2025 Chinese New Year of the Snake

Reunion Dinner with Ma's Godbro

]

The annual vegetarian reunion meal with WaiPo...Mama's godbro brought us cracker goodies

A Michelin gourmand restaurant

It was rather tasty...but let us just say, nothing could be better than lots of MEAT...heh...the rest came over to our home for MJ and a dinner filled with scrumptious meat dishes..HA

The cute little lass looked like the famous TV show character Huan Zhu Gege

She and her kooky friends

Emma was an especially fun person to be with...she gave food names to these friends and Mei was Bubble Tea! Quite apt, considering how much she loved bubble tea, especially the winter melon one from Liho..

Tong's 13th Birthday on the eve of CNY

Our pride and joy second born

Tong said he was Dylan's favourite cousin...

We loved you to the moon and back, Tong

Reunion dinner with Grand Uncle Brian, Beo Gor Po and Ah Gong, Ah Ma...our second Lo Hei for the year...the first being at the vegetarian restaurant...

1st Day of CNY

At Granduncle Ronald's home...we had new additions this year - Xiaoshu's twins and Uncle JJ's Zoro

OOOO...we heard that it would be a prosperous year for the Roosters (and hens). There were quite a few roosters in our extended family - Papa, me, Aunt Candice, Uncle Zhihong...and oh Uncle Cavan!

Gasp, the very bold attempt by Xiaobiaogu and Uncle Kenny to replicate this snake Yusheng design...well it did look better in photo than in real life, but what a valiant undertaking

Ah...fourth LO HEI? Did one at Waipo's home before we came back to Ah Ma's house. Well...for the past few years, CNY Day 1 would start with brunch at Ah Ma's house (ah...her painstakingly, lovingly made chang shou mian), then meeting Ah Ma's family at Grand Uncle Ronald's home...then meeting your maternal cousins at Waipo's home...and the last stop would be meeting the paternal cousins at Ah Gong's home

Ok, family shot of the year

Well, the classic cousins' shot according to height...Jie used to be taller than all of them...alas, but had since be relegated to the middle position...interestingly, Daddy also occupied the middle position among his cousins..

Wacky shots

Was dabbing still trending? Someone brought up that they did a dabbing shot in Taiwan and Kaysen did it in the opposite direction...we made up the story that he was standing next to the wall, so his dab bounced off the wall and reversed direction...nay he was just clueless...hA

SMRT's signature thumbs-up look?

Ah...bliss to be with the extended family...

Uncle Kenny was the unofficial photographer. This year, he upped his game by using his Apple watch to take the photos (he could even see what was being taken on the watch). It was rather disconcerting to us as we were used to having the cameraman stand before us and giving the commands but he was hidden in some secret corner. HA...so he decided to stand next to the camera and activated the 3 second countdown so there was a flash and the people knew when to look and SMILE!

Ha, Aunt Lindy was checking out Papa's swollen tummy..hmmm

What were we laughing about? Heh...Uncle Kenny often would capture such candid shots..perhaps he especially loved all the laughing shots for he captured one of Meimei falling backwards and squashing Jun and the two of them chuckling away...

Someone commented that Uncle Zhihong looked exceptionally big in this photo..hahaha...well i guessed that was why Papa had to hide behind Mama

Ha the very serious old folks...Mama did the scratch card game with them. Aunt Chuping won the top prize of $38, Aunt Candice $28 and our lucky star Tong picked the $18! Everyone was tickled pink by the game though most people got $2!

2nd Day of CNY

At God Grandparents' home...Eryi wearing Mei's hairband...ha...Mei was really sick yesterday and just slept the day away...everyone was really feeling sorry for the adorable sweet little lass who usually would be as chirpy as a bird...but we knew she was getting better last night as she had enough energy to scold Gege..and this morning she sprang up and said, "Mama, my eye doesn't hurt and I feel much better!" and... began yapping away...

Well...it was Tong's turn...red eyes, sniffy nose, aching body... oh boy oh boy

Went to the playground downstairs...

Heh...how lucky it was to have 4 doting daughters...

Almost all of us were in this lovely shade of peachy pink, except for Xiaoyi...looked as if we were taking wedding shots and she was the bride

Heh...Time to change our profile pic (the one we were using was the one we took at Genting Highlands many years ago!)

Hope we would always be healthy and wealthy! HA

So bad to end at this domestic abuse shot...

Er YI and all came over to our home to play MJ. We had our fifth LO HEI...

Update on Chu San: the small kids (Mei and Jun) were back in school...Tong and Xun were at home to do home-based learning...wish Friday was a public holiday too...but oh well...we had a blast...and...could not wait to celebrate Mei's birthday in Malaysia next month!

I prayed over our family and extended families:
天伦之乐,岁岁平安

Happenings in Jan

 Happenings in January

Aunt Kath's family came over to play...

Mama started wearing warm spring colours after going for the colour analysis with Miki

Even buying new make-up!

The little girl bought a hairband and was as pleased as Punch

Tong cooked eggs for me and Jie! Our very useful chef who liked steaming the frozen dim sum could also whip up instant noodles in an instant for his Jie

Jie adored this anime soft toy as it was her favourite character. The boys constantly taunted her by flipping his fringe up...ah, so that was what happened to men as they aged, they became bald and looked ugly...ha

Mei liked this green soot sprite HA

Happy Birthday, Jie!

Jie turned 15! She even brought a dress over to Ah Ma house so she could dress up for the occasion. Start of the the vanity phase

Well one thing did not change - she still liked taking ugly photos

I was feeling a little sick that night...more like super drowsy and a little nauseated as I somehow left the packet of 4 sleeping gummies in my work bag and ate them all, thinking they were multivitamins, in the last lesson (phew relieved that I did not eat them earlier, if not, I would not survive the 4 classes)...

Happy sweet 15, Jie!

First Day of School

Our proud parent moment - two kids in the top schools in Singapore..and both heading to Hwa Chong Junior College (ah, where Papa, Mama met and fell in love)

They took the train with Tong...Eden and Gayle originally said they would wait at the bus stop to cheer him on but they pulled out from the plan the night before, tsk tsk...

Finally got his uniform...yes, still the classic dour look...

May you excel and have lots of fun in school, Tong!
