Oh Oh Oh, I felt we did not go to many places during the June school holidays.
They enjoyed visiting the man-made waterfall the most
Malaysia recently declared that it was not going to send live chickens to Singapore due to the shortage faced over there. Ah...we had kiasu Singaporeans buying up loads of fresh chicken to store in the freezer and...eh...the price of chicken did go up. Nay, the Singapore government soon established more supplies from Thailand and other countries...
Heh but before all that happened, the kids saw this wild rooster and said they should have caught it as it had become really valuable..hah
They explored the bunker...did a social studies project recently with Tong. He was supposed to talk about WW2 in Singapore and coincidentally had borrowed a book from NLB talking just about that! What divine intervention. He had to answer why Japan chose to invade Singapore and I spent a long time googling for answers, piecing bits of information from various sources only to find that there was a page dedicated to that exact topic and it was boxed out nicely to differentiate it from the main text. TONG TONG!
Tong's friends came over to play! Kester, his main friend, never took his mask off. Amazing discipline.
Chalet at LOYANG
the newly furbished playroom with a lounge for parents
Oh Papa rented a huge 4-bedroom chalet at Loyang. This was the newly furbished indoor playground. They had a smashing good time chasing and hitting one another with balls. I heard they often ganged up against Tong, for some unknown reason. LOL.
Ah...why isn't this photo turned to show the proper layout? GOSH.
Eating candy early in the morning...ah...what, they had all become babies?
Also went to the pool. Mei stayed at the shallow end. I realised that I had recorded way more of her quirky sayings in my phone and I did not include them in the previous post.
One example: Tong texted eryi that he was in the top 25 percent in school and eryi said, "Good job, Tong Tong!" Mei repeated "good job Tongtong" and tong said, "What did you call me?" Mei said, "Gor Gor." After a while, she turned to Jie with a cheeky grin and said, "I called Gor Gor Tong Tong."
She loved to taunt Tong. Once, she said Tong could not help her to switch on TV coz he was too fat. I asked what that had got to do with switching on the TV and she said because his tummy was too big. LOL...I had been teaching her numbers too and she liked to put her second, third and fourth fingers up to indicate that she was 3. So I turned them aside and said ah, you could make the number 3 in that way. Then I helped her to remember that 6 had a big tummy like Gorgor, 9 had a big head like Gege and 5 was for Sarahbelle as 5 looked like S. giggles...i know, unorthodox of teaching...hey but it stuck in her head! She could recognise our block number now!
They enjoyed playing at the beach the most of all. Was exceptionally balmy. Warm glowing sun, gentle sea breeze, low tide...they found a lot of sea creatures and were so enthralled by their finds.
My favourite photo. This little lass loved to sing. She would made up songs with one-word lyrics all the time. Another of her taunting stunts: We were having mookata. Tong: Mei, is ur tummy happy? Mei: Yes, and it's fat like yours. Ah, her sassiness...She could not sing the ABC song properly too, missing out random letters from time to time. Did not ever realise that Tong could not tell us the next letter if we picked one random one. He had to sing the song all over from the TOP. MY GOODNESS.
The older folks took a leisurely walk
Sand, sun, sea, what was there not to love
Papa's little girl. Once, she heard me giving Jun tingxie and I said "Qi Li" and she said "qi li" meant stand up! Once, I was telling her the plans for the evening and I go distracted and stopped midway. She asked in concern, "Mummy, what are you thinking?" She was a good reader of people and their emotions.
How was it possible that Er Yi still looked so cute and fresh like a daisy when she was already 37?
WATER BALLOON FIGHT - we could not find the ideal tap outlet but we made do and had small balloons. But it was still FUN. A boys vs girls war.
BBQ at night.
Lovely place. VERY costly. Oh well! We could not go overseas since Tong's passport had expired (Xun 'meanly' called him the expired boy) and Mei was not vaccinated...at this point of writing, Papa was down with COVID.. Alas, we had survived intact thus far, but our defenses had been breached...we prayed that God would keep the rest of us safe, but we know all things are in God's hands and He will put us in the right place at the right time. In Jesus' name, Amen.
