A milestone. A historic milestone. I finally got to travel with my girlfriends after 13 years of motherhood. Ah only for night in Bintan but that certainly heralded the dawn of a new phase in my life and the start of more adventures!
The kids stayed over at Ah Ma's house as Tong said Ah Ma would not scold him and would comfort him if he wept at night...wellllll Tong was the stickiest one of the lot...weeping occasionally weeks before the trip...
A very beautiful place..not very environmentally friendly though as the tepee was like a massive greenhouse with its thick covering that trapped lots of heat
had a leisurely lunch at the only restaurant in the hotel
Very expensive place but it was gorgeous...This was what we called glamping.
Did not go to the natural beaches. We took a stroll around the man made lagoon. Water sports were incredibly costly so we did not do any. We also did not bring swimwear at all!
I did not know what to expect from this trip as I was close to only Aunt Shuping... I was so glad that I learnt to say yes to new experiences. I made two new bosom buddies...
We took a boat ride to the kelong for dinner. Ah what an adventure.
The food was nice...it was refreshing to dine on a kelong
Walked somemore...the night view of the tepees was dazzling...they really looked like tents in a desert...hmmm was that how it looked like when the children of God were wandering in the wilderness?
We bought beer and talked till 3 am...about anything under the sun...we bared our hearts, shared intimate stories...encouraged one another...
I thought I loved turning 40...I often told people that 40 was a landmark year for me..it was a watershed moment...it was as if a switch was suddenly flipped on and I got a lot of clarity about a lot of things. I likened it to that magical moment when a toddler does not know how to walk and yet suddenly took his first steps the next day...there must be a real chemical switch in our brains ...and mine came on when I turned 40..I dared to be more vulnerable...took things more lightly...took myself less seriously...regarded failures less gravely...tried more things, said yes more enthusiastically...ah...SWEET 40
Ya...my darling Mei
Tried making jelly cake at home too!
Happy that our little ones were growing up happy and healthy
Wish we had more time for Mei to explore the world...she did not have as many opportunities to go to indoor playgrounds, musicals, the zoo...etc coz the older ones were so busy with school
She would be starting K1 soon...a lot of people were surprised when they found out that Mei was only starting school at K1...well I said Mei and Jun started school at K1 too, only Tong started at N1 coz I was pregnant with Jun then and wanted a break...Xun said her friends were very envious of her when they found out that she started school so late and hardly had tuition..
Heh...Tong did not do too well in his recent maths test and asked to have tuition. He asked his friends for recommendations and went to researched online a bit. He signed up for a trial class and told me to enroll him...well I must say Tong was learning to take charge of his own learning and growing up nicely...Auntie A also agreed when I said Tong was a very charming boy...Auntie A said that was because he did not take himself too seriously...he made people feel comfortable with him
traits of a middle child...erm...then how come he was always so fierce with Jun?
Xiaoyi took a cute passport photo of Mei
Went to visit Jie's school...she looked like the Nanyang doll
Oh...was that when the cute face pose started?
And we celebrated someone's birthday with Llao Llao yoghurt
Er yi Zhang and San Yi Zhang came over on a PH to play MJ. Ha but papa went to play soccer at 8pm so we lacked a player...and guess who stepped up? Ah...Jie's inaugural game...she played really well for a first timer...
It is such a blessing to have so many siblings in the home...Well as I always proclaimed...they know exactly how it is like to be married since they have lived with someone of the opposite gender in such proximity and intensity...of course, Tong would always say he would never get married then...LOL
