Ah after a long day of work on Sat, Mama went home to put her work bag, got changed and was all ready to travel!
Ah, it was technically Sunday as our flight was at an unearthly hour of 1am.
Christmas decorations were up!
Reached Hong Kong. Novotel was really awesome for they allowed us to check in way before the stipulated time. They gave us connecting rooms and we took a nice long nap before heading out to meet Uncle Mike. They loved snuggling with the not so small baby sister.
Ha, train tickets.
Their buildings were really special for there were restaurants on every level! Aunt Joanna and Uncle Mike said they never ran out of places to dine at. WOAH.
We went to this artsy area which was formerly a prison.
They had converted it into an artists' enclave.
Had ice cream and soda at the cafe next to Aunt Joanna's shop which was located in a lively compound which was formerly policemen's quarters. She had a really lovely shop selling trinkets, jewellery, clothes and other artsy knick-knacks. It was fun visiting other stores. We saw some really cool things, like beautifully dyed jackets, shirts with funny taglines, but they were all rather costly so we did not buy any.
There was a fun counter at the rooftop. We made popsicles using honey and dry ice.
There were steep streets every where. We were astonished by the escalators that went up the slopes! We peeked into the stores and homes along the escalators.
At the former prison quarters which were converted into the artists' enclave.
We took the ferry and enjoyed the scenic night view.
They incentivised people to walk by letting them tap their transport cards at these machines for cashbacks! Papa took a photo so he could introduce this idea to his SMRT folks.
At the courtroom
One of the many alleys in the former prison
Went into the cell...many of them had writing on the walls as the inmates inscribed their deepest anguished thoughts on the them
Took the train back to the hotel
They could tap onto the free wifi everywhere, so they were often playing games on their phones while waiting
Good morning! View of the cityscape from our hotel room
Time to fly to Kao Hsiung
These cartoon characters were big in Taiwan. Sumikogurashi characters too, to the delight of Xun Xun.
She always asked for photos with Christmas decorations.
We just finished watching a teen romance show titled "When I fly towards you". I thought Jun looked like the lead character RangRang. I thought he looked super handsome in baby blue.
Xun and Tong thought otherwise though and kept making gagging noises when I said that.
They bought 7 tubs of candy floss! The lady gave the one gigantic one for free as it was getting out of shape and she was not opening the store tomorrow. She said we could bring whatever we could not finish back to Singapore...well she totally underestimated these crazy kids.
Checking out the outlet mall as the hotel staff did not allow us to check in early though the place looked somewhat deserted. shrug. There was a garden
We bought quite a few Sumikogurashi tshirts and long sleeved sweaters... they got to get one lucky ball and got a comic character plush toy which we gave to Lan Shu Shu's kids.
We also went to an arcade called Tom's World.
We thought of taking the carousel but concluded that there was nothing much to see at night...heh...
