Our favourite destination - JB
A jolly jaunt to JB with Papa to buy Famous Amos cookies for Teachers' Day. Haha. Had a hearty lunch at a popular cafe.
Papa groused that Mama was starting to be picky about how photographs should be taken...
The pastries were yummy. I loved bread and ang moh desserts so much.
Dinner was Chinese food at a restaurant selling duck meat. Aye, Papa loved Chinese food, he was a Chinese bear at heart.
It seemed like we had ordered a lot..but we did manage to finish everything. HA
The LOOT - 40 packets of cookies, each 200g, so we lugged 8 kg of cookies home.
We were really adventurous and went to the airport by train! It was a longer journey if we took the DTL so we transited to the EWL at Bugis Station and hopped off at Tanah Merah Station to catch the airport-bound train. All in all, it was less than an hour!
Bye Singapore!
We checked in. The boutique hotel. It was pretty and cosy.
Then, we went to Papa's office to meet his colleague to pass her some Singapore goodies returned her the money as she helped us get express airport clearance passes. We had brunch at the airport lounge and lunch on the plane so we were not hungry. We went to explore the streets and saw interesting sights, like a bevy of ladies in white ao dais sitting outside massage parlours or barber shops and witnessed one boldly accosting a male passer-by. Ah, we had our first massage in Vietnam.
We were walking back to the hotel and stopped outside a hairdressing salon which looked pretty decent. We were trying to find the google reviews when a man who was sitting outside the restaurant next to the salon told us in Chinese that the salon was pretty good. Papa got his wish for a hair-cut in Vietnam.
We went to this chee cheong fun shop for dinner after Papa's haircut. Mama saw that it had the Michelin Gourmand sticker and was really ravenous then. It turned out that the man who talked to us just now was the boss and he was a Singaporean. We saw pictures of him and some dignitaries like Lawrence Wong, the French president and Papa's MP friend on the wall!
On the saunter back to the hotel, we saw this cute building and thought of the kids!
Second day - breakfast at the hotel
Went to the market opposite our hotel. Alas, we went to check out the dried mangoes at a stall and felt pressured to buy and did not even bargain so we thought we were "chopped" once again.
Papa said he came to this market with his D4 hall mates many years ago! He remembered he got a backpack here.
Waiting for our bubble tea
Found a park to take some couple shots. I had selected some poses to imitate but Papa said they were silly. He tried to cooperate as much as possible but we ended up with only this one satisfactory photo before throwing in the towel. I guess we were not exactly IG folks.
Went to another atas massage parlour for hair treatment. Ha, Papa liked the more expensive and luxurious ones which had rave reviews. It was a good experience. The therapist shampooed my hair twice and put treatment cream before using a cool circular head shower.
Late lunch at 4Ps Pizza
We had a crab pasta
and very yummy pizzas
Walked more to walk off some of the calories we had consumed
We went back to the chee cheong fun shop and met the boss. Chit chatted for a long time and even made a friend who was based in Hong Kong (Papa linked him up with Uncle YongSheng). The boss even made coffee (which was not on the menu yet) for Papa.
Papa sent this photo to his MP friend.
Then, we went for a 6-hand massage at An Nam Spa. Well, Papa said that the 4-hand massage he had in Thailand was a better experience. It felt like the third pair of hands was a calefare as they were not in sync with the movements of the other two therapists.
The kids had fun at Waipo's house. Ah, Papa and I were thrilled that the kids allowed us to go for two 3D2N trips (Penang and HCM) this year! They could fall asleep easily on their own and did not even text us very much!
Third Day
After breakfast at the hotel, we went to the war museum.
Mama learnt about the Vietnam War. Some exhibits were rather disturbing.
Peace is truly so precious.
Mr Ho Chi Minh
Met this strange coconut hawker as we were walking. He came very close to us and insisted on Papa carrying his wares for a photo and even wanted to offer us a coconut. I saw a chopper in his basket when he took out the coconut and felt uneasy.
We declined his kind gesture and quickly scooted to the other side of the road. Erm...scary
Had our last massage at the hotel's spa and the hotel staff surprised us with a cake for my birthday! It was a most beautiful trip with Papa.
Posted this on FB. Mama felt so blessed to have Papa and her four babies.
Random things
Saw this huge marine soft toy and thought Tong would love it. The kooky Mei Mei
They went to swim and the little lass conked out at the balcony after her shower.
The capybara also fell asleep on Papa's bed while studying ting xie. Jie also fell asleep at her table Mama took naps in the day too as she felt under the weather and thought she must have caught the Vietnam flu virus. Heh. We had wanted to go for dinner at Genki but decided to order the food and eat at home.
The day ended with a nice relaxing walk with Papa to Suncottages and back to our sweet little home at Linear. Ah...this was true and authentic bliss and happiness. Mama was 44 and looking forward to a glorious year ahead, filled with God's wisdom, favour and protection.
