(1 May 17) Labour's Day Special - First sleepover at East Coast Park

It was the eve of Labour's Day, a Sunday. I went to cover classes, went back to Marzuki and were greeted by two super enthusiastic munchkins who declared that we absolutely had to set off as soon as possible.

Having located Aunt Karen's tent, we started pitching ours too. A lovely balmy day with windy breezes and quiet beach...the idyllic setting for a picnic in the sun

the littlest one was very extremely busy, with his usual pastime, hunting down food. Bei kor poh bought his favourite agar agar along, he was wolfing them down ravenously...

he was like a little hamster, always storing food in those chubby fat cheeks.

the intrepid one was gallivanting everywhere barefooted...grand uncle brian was so sweet as to follow him everywhere he went. It was as if he knew someone was looking out for him, so he ventured really faraway, yearning to conquer this very new land he had set foot on.

Ah ha, the adults were truly having a whale of a time and gorging on snacks.

three tents side by side, this was the triplets' tent. A pity that Jayron developed HFMD and was ordered to stay at home.

The picture did not do our tent justice as it was humongous compared to the other two tents. While it stated that it was meant for 6 people, incidentally, the triplets' tent was also meant for 6, ours was way bigger. Mama joked that ours was for 6 angmohs.

排排坐吃果果. See, our tent was absolutely towering over the rest. "小巫见大巫!" or

"小屋见大屋!" ha, so punny.

So the littlest one had dedicated chaperones like Grand Uncle Brian and Bei Kor Po. He was so dauntless that he even ventured into the waters.

After washing up, the munchkins were hunting for food to fill their starving tummies. Ha, Jun was fascinated with the wire mesh, perhaps he thought it was some toy?

The utterly silly baby

Xiaoshu and Patsy yiyi loved to BBQ. Such was their passion for it that Patsy yiyi claimed that she would not mind doing it every weekend at ah ma's house. To which, Xiaoshu glibly retorted that ah ma would chastise him if he ever dare suggest this idea but she might indulge patsy yiyi. ha

Xiaoshu bought this revolutionary bamboo charcoal which burnt really fast, well and steadily. We were gobbling piping hot, nicely bbqed food in no time.

The baby was always in good company. The grand aunts and uncle were always fussing over him. He was enthralled by a video of him playing in the waters.

Could not get him to look up to take the shot till I took the phone away and used it as a lure. Ha, he was gesturing for me to return it.

Yum yum, roasted marshmallows were always a favourite

As well as sausages, hotdogs, crabsticks and satays

Aunt Karen asked mama to take this photo of her hubby sitting serenely on the beach and admiring the sea. A romantic shot indeed.

At night, we played "Sleeping Queens". Ha, Kaysen always targeted the Ladybug Queen and would go to all lengths to get it in his hands.

They came up with all kinds of games - disco dancing, shadow play...

Eden caught a football match with papa.

We called it a night at 10 plus. Jie and tong grumbled a little about the heat (interestingly, the cool breeze abruptly stopped when it was time to sleep) and the hard ground.

On the next morning, all of us were up at 7plus, pretty early! Jie remarked that she would love to do this again, but not in a long time.

Washed up and all ready to play again.

Then, Jie changed her mind and proclaimed that she would love to go camping every week. Well...I knew for sure I was not going to come here every week. I missed my warm baths and heavenly mattress.

They played Sleeping Queens again. The triplets were very taken in by the game.

The kids also played soccer, scooted and cycled a little...We had Mac breakfast while fighting off numerous crazy houseflies...and it was time to go home. What a smashing time we had. Definitely a great memory and experience for the three kids.

A picture popped up on Mama's FB recently, the rotund little jie who must have been just a few months old. I missed that chirpy blithe little girl. I was cleaning up the sofa drawers one night when I stumbled upon a little pony diary where she penned her thoughts about various things, like what she would like to be when she grew up, who were her favourite people...

To my amusement and mild shock, she actually wrote that she loved Weijie (the fellow monitor in class). Well...papa talked to her the next morning and asked her what would she look for in a man? She talked about how he should be kind...heh...exactly what mama had seeded in her head.

I talked to her about it too...and asked directly if she liked Weijie...she admitted it but replied the suitable age to look for a boyfriend was 18...heh

Mama was telling papa that we were losing control over the three of you gradually. With you spending more time without us at your sides, you would be influenced by other people...you also would not share every single thought and feeling with us...A bittersweet feeling, knowing you were growing to have your own minds and the world was your oyster...yet wishing we could keep you small forever. Whilst we lost control, mama hoped that we would never lose the influence we had on you...assured that Jesus would be watching over you, we put you safely in His guidance.
