(9 May 17 Tues) Vesak Day's special - Visit to the Zoo, River Safari and Night Safari

Ah ha, now that we were Friends of the Wild, we must utilise the card at every opportunity we had. It would be Vesak Day tomorrow, so we got Ah Gong to take us to the zoo after picking tong up from school!

Tong had been talking animatedly about the trip for many days, he was in such high spirits on that day. Tong was maturing beautifully. He no longer moped about going to school, liking school to such an extent that he requested to go though he could stay at home for a few more days due to a bout of illness.

Babirusa in the first pic and the white tiger in the water for this second pic.

Incidentally, jie was tasked to research on the pygmy hippo for her school project so we came to check it out. She was tickled to learn that it was celled the underwater ballerina.

We usually took the tram to tour the place but decided to explore the walking trail as we needed to come to this enclosure. It was a wonderful choice though it entailed carrying the increasingly heavy rotund baby jun jun everywhere we walked.

Little jun had such a curious appetite, he savoured looking at all the interesting animals. Xun and Tong relished learning all the fun facts.

Ha, tong happened to wear this tee with the word "wild". How apt it was!

Tong wanted to go to the snake enclosure but it was under maintenance. So, he chose to visit Fragile Forest instead. It was a lovely place, he was especially delighted that he managed to find all but one (ha, strangely, we could not locate the sloth. It was puzzling, it being such a lethargic and slow mammal, where could it be if not lounging in the branches?) of the animals listed to be living in the enclosure.

He had eagle eyes and spotted the crowned pigeon...

ooooo the lemur which looked exactly like King Julian in the cartoon Madagascar

Then, we caught one show - Splash Safari. The duo were always pining to be chosen to help out in the animal shows..ha

munching on snacks and enjoying a breather...

By the time we headed to River Safari, it was almost 6. The staff urged us to take the boat ride first, it was fortunate that we took her advice as we got onto the last boat!

Picturesque and serene

A visit here would not be complete without eating the panda chocolate bao (a hefty price tag of $2.90 each). Tong said this was his wide grin...

and jie requested for a picture of her bao grin too...

We waited for papa to join us at Night Safari. Having missed the first show, we went for a tram ride. Alas, the second show was full too. We went on the trail instead and had even more fun. So much so that tong exclaimed that he wished to come back on the trails very soon.

Yup, he mentioned it just today, coz papa and mama talked about how we could beat the crowd by coming in at 830pm on a Sat night, and the tourists would be leaving, it would definitely be more pleasurable not having to line up in the snaking queue and the shows would probably not be full...ah, and the kids prattled on about how they could have a higher chance to be chosen as volunteers then...

ha, I betted we would be visiting this place very often!
