(June 19) Videos + Jurong Lake Gardens

Aunt Tin found Tong's phone under the bed. Ha, it had been missing for at least half a year. With his beloved phone found, he had been taking photos and videos of mei mei mostly, whom he declared as his newest model. Haha....his phone was full of Jun's photos last year. Now, it was full of Mei mei's photos. He took this video and thought it was sooo cute. Apparently, they said something to mei and declared that Mei was trying to attack them.

Went to the playground with Aunt A's children. Tong was the one who taught me how to use the slow-mo mode. He was one tech-y guy like papa. Papa had brought the smaller TV to the dining table so that he could have a big screen when he worked. Yet, the kids managed to take the wire from that TV and connect it to the PS4 and the big TV so that they could play PS4 with Xiaoyi. Amazing.

The Woodlands Green Park was really lovely.

Hello Jun. He looked like a mutant giant ant or something...

There were so many structures for them to explore..

but even simple things like throwing leaves into the air (Jie called them the confetti leaves) made them happy...

AH. We went to Jurong Lake Gardens on a sunny day. Mama had mistakenly made them walk all the way to the bus stop opposite Waipo's house only to find out (due to Tong's sharpness, he went to check if bus 180 really did go to that bus stop) that we could have taken the bus from the interchange.

Newly opened. It was such a gem.

I told them that papa and Mama used to date there and Tong said that he would bring his gf there. HAHAHAHAh.

Tong spotted the gargantuan monitor lizard. Gosh.

We heard the ringing of the bell and followed the sound to the gates of Chinese Garden. It was closed for renovation and I hoped we would get to visit it when it was all spruced up.

Ice cream in the hot sun - what a treat.

Ah - the playground! It was a good thing that we did not come on Mon as the area was closed on Mons for maintenance. The hammocks looked very relaxing but were actually rather uncomfortable.

There was an area with many trampolines...

Crossed the bridge

Found a little waterplay area...we had missed the big waterplay area. Managed to convince Jun to just go to the swimming pool at the other end of the park and was dismayed to learn that the pool was closed for maintenance on Thurs. It was such an arduous walk, my legs almost broke.

The red-brick road we found surreptitiously. Ha...we veered from the main path and found ourselves in a serene part of the park. Thought there was a red-brick road in The Wizard of Oz but Xun said that it was actually a yellow-brick road. hahaha

Golden dragonflies!

A field of lalangs. It was a good photo spot. We actually saw TWO wedding couples.

We finally found the waterplay area. The kids had a splashing good time. They spent a long time wading around, collecting sand, soaking in the water...Ah Gong had not seen them since last Sat and must be missing them for he came all the way from the east to drive us home. In the car, papa called and I told him Ah Gong missed mei mei and came to pick us. Ha the impish Jun asked Ah Gong if he missed him too. Jun was getting really glib. There was once when he wanted jie to help him and he used his cute voice to declare that he loved bear bear. Jun was so tired that he almost fell asleep at the food court. After bathing, he went to bed by himself and was soon sound asleep.

Jie went for extra soccer training and had a whale of a time. Alas, she forgot the extra hockey training though. Ha I did not know why it slipped my mind. I had recorded it on the calendar in the living room but not on my phone.

AH ha, the last Fri of the June holiday....ooooo back to the predictable routines of schooling days...what a bliss...I was tired to the bone with all the excursions.

(the second week of June 19) Ice skating, charity event for Assisi, GBTB

Ah ice-skating with the triplets (nope, the twin boys coz Gayle was resting at her granny's house after having a hectic dance practice schedule during the June hols)

Even Jun joined in the action! Except that he did not skate AT ALL and was on the seal all the time, yet he complained that he was tired. HMMM

Mama met Aunt Wenjun for lunch. Jun joined us and actually fell asleep on the table. Ha

Went for the Assisi Charity Event. This year, Sembcorp sold Koi bubble tea (which was a total sellout, it was soooo successful though each cup cost $6!) and durians.

The kids enjoyed themselves at the carnival as they played games and won lots of prizes.

Tong was really generous. He could redeem three prizes and asked Xun and Jun to choose one each for themselves. He did it twice and the lady manning the stall was so impressed by his big-heartedness that she gave him an extra gift!

Xun got hurt in this game. The metal rod spun backwards and caught her unawares. Because of her painful back, we skipped soccer practice that day.

Jun went into the maze. It was manned by some SJI boys so I asked for a discount and he let me in at half the price. ha...

Jun was so daring, he even went on the Viking ship.

Jie climbed up the wall effortlessly. This girl loved to try new things.

Ah! We would be renewing out GBTB membership.

They tried to add new features all the time so that visitors would not get sick of visiting the domes. This time, we saw some carnivorous plants. ha.

My zany bunch.

Counted the snails...

We also went to the Flower Dome which was having the roses theme now. The blooms were set amidst an European themed setting...with those lovely French windows

Spotted pretty flowers...

It was as if we were visiting Europe...oh we sorely missed the UK...Jun often asked when we could visit the UK again...Would papa ever have a chance to be posted there again?

They liked to ask to be photographed alone...

Our ever favourite flower which we christened as "Dancing Flower" as it resembled a dainty ballerina in a tutu skirt.

"Off with his head" The big ones were dismayed that they had to walk the second level just because of Jun's whim.

The pretty dancing flowers...

Ah...face as smooth as porcelain...

It was the school hols, so GBTB had children activities. I had said this before, Singapore was actually very children-friendly.

We went to different stations to collect stamps.

I heard Toy Story 4 was exceptionally moving...we must catch the show!

Amazingly, the game stalls put up by the GBTB staff were all FREE. Here, the kids zoomed around on little cars and they had to hit the buttons to get points.

The humongous marble would do a run every half an hour...

Bubbles and aeroplanes flew out from the machine.

Throwing the balls to knock down the milk cans...

One had to spin the wheel to get the horse to gallop to the centre of the table...

Little Bo Peep's adventure course

Some stations were further away but we did not give up...

The last one was really obscure. We had a hard time finding it. It was in some secluded area, far away from the main path. As it was a weekday and we went there early, we could play the games after queueing for a short time. When we left in the evening, more people were streaming in. Phew, we managed to avoid the crowds.

A kind gor gor gave this hand balloon to us as he had too many.

Yeah...must take as many photos as I could now while you were still willing to pose for photos. Mama had already started reading up on how to deal with teenagers. Would you believe it? My darling xun xun was heading for adolescence!

We had a really wonderful time at GBTB.

Oh the kids went to Beauty World to cut their hair, even Mei mei, who cried pitifully in protest. Orrrr… our little botak head.

Aunt Sandra came to visit us and she took this photo of a doleful-eyed mei…

Went to meet up with mama's ex colleagues. With Aunt Grace, whom Mama knew since uni times...gosh... that was some 20 years ago. How did time pass SO quickly?

Papa's Father's Day present from the church.

It was really nifty! There were three shades of light and how clever and apt it was to use that bible verse "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" for a book lamp!

We found out that it cost $35 in the shop at Hillion Mall. Gosh.

So...the June hol was nearing an end...oh my...
