The last shot of the library before it closed down for a 2-year renovation! We heard from the librarian that it would occupy 2 levels in future, wow, simply wow.
The cute little ones
Went to Aunt Shuping's house for a playdate. All these were football aficionados!
They looked like they had just showered or got caught in a torrential downpour. ha
Reminded us of the trick eye museum, except that this was free, a wall mural outside Bove in Suntec.
The penguin was one of Jun's favourite animals. He loved to borrow books about penguins.
Our littlest baobei with Waigong. He could hold her for a long while.
Ah....Did you think that mei mei looked like mama?
Oh before we knew it, the June hol was coming to an end and Mid-Autumn Festival was coming.
Up to no good at home, all of you loved to cuddle with the squishy baby.
My beautiful children..
Oh we went to the zoo and renewed the pass. Hurray! Tong was doing a project on this turtle...
Jun seemed to have taken a liking to snakes too...
Hello Roti-Island long-necked turtle!
We had free tote bags because of the membership pass.
Stay cool...
We went to the show titled "The Bicentennial Experience" which documented Singapore's transformation from that fishing village to the thriving metropolitan city that we knew and loved today. It was a dazzling multi-sensorial experience. In one act, rain pelted from high hanging clouds, in another, the junk boat we were in could actually move...There was also a really dark room whereby we heard voices of people who lived during the Japanese Occupation. The most poignant one for me was the "raining room". All of us held brollies and the walls flashed stories of our achievements, of the memorable NDP with the heavy downpour and then the masses of people who lined up along the roads in the stormy rain to bade farewell to Lee Kuan Yew as his coffin marched by...ending with the haunting words, "Rain would always be part of our story..."
Had other exhibits outside Fort Canning Centre too. I used to come to this park because the church had the children camp at YMCA and we would come here for the outdoor activities. Gosh...it had changed so much. There were escalators now and a new playground too. We should come again to explore the place.
Walked over to the National Museum and it had children activities, as it always had when it was the school hols. I must say, Singapore was a fantastic place for families. There were plenty of free activities and places to explore. There were three gigantic bouncy castles which were especially made for this children festival and they were based on the Nature theme and were modelled to look like birds. The kids had great fun in one which had a blower inside.
There were two gigantic tents - one had some light and board activities, another had pillows and cutouts of animals on the floor so children could match the pillows to the correct animals.
They were really pretty.
The children were running amok around the place playing hide-and-seek-catching!
And they made a little nest for Mei mei…
It was really amusing, all the children adored mei mei to bits.
It was so hard to take a photo with all of them looking at the camera.
Little Jesse was going to turn 3 in 2 weeks' time. How time had flown.
Our big gege and small gege were looking more and more like twins. Big gege in the pic above. Small gege in the pic below. If you were not careful, you would have thought that they were the same person as they were wearing matching tees! Ha, nowadays, mama only bought matching clothes for the boys. Jie claimed that she would love to wear the same things as meimei...but with the age gap, I hardly thought it would be so.
Went to the exhibition on packaging...
Rather interesting exhibition...free, totally free!
A gigantic tin can...
Jie donated $2 to get a sticker.
There were other hands-on activities like piecing this porcelain vase together...
We even saw a bride. In fact, we often saw brides when we were out and about.
After lunch, we were back again to play on the bouncy castles. We were thankful that we could come on a weekday so it was not too crowded. Cheers to more exploration!
