(Jan Feb 2020) Where had all the time gone to?

Happy 10th Birthday, Jie Jie!
The rascals were on their way to Marzuki..

Our little bit of sunshine

The children were always sleeping in strange positions...

Hard at work. Jie was always busy with work, her English teacher always gave so much homework. I wished we had time to go downstairs to play, like how we used to in the past. Sigh...We were glad that Jie was adapting to the new school well and she rose up to the challenging tasks and curriculum. She even enjoyed some of the tasks (like she won the Best Speaker Award during the debate and her team and she had such creative ideas for the writing competitions).

Jun was enjoying school too. We enrolled him in a Chinese class at Tampines Safra and he liked the teacher very much. Ha...

He asked for a photo with the lions outside NTUC.

Sharing an ice cream with Ah Gong,,,

The dutiful Ah Gong who fetched him when Mama was at work...

Mei loved her Xiao gege...

Going everywhere with her beloved Xiao gege...

He was so exhausted that he fell asleep in the pram on our way back from school...

A daring adventurer, she loved to climb. She would climb into this rocking chair and get out of it on her own. She even used the car as a stepping stone to reach the letters at the photo display cabinet. She also learnt how to climb up the steps to go up to jie's bunk bed. Once, while Mama was busy somewhere else, all was quiet till Mama heard her persistent whining. I went to check it out and saw her on the bunk bed and she was whining for help as she did not know how to get down. Luckily, she was smart enough to seek help and not jump down from the bed. Gosh, I thought the angels must be watching over her.

Ah...home made sushi!

A colleague shared this image. Our perspective and choice of words could build or break a child's spirit.

More of Mei's antics. She was officially the pet of the house.

The poor lass had been falling sick since December. First, she had a cold, then fever, rosella, hives, a cold, diarrhea and now a cough. Dr Lim said it was a season of building up her immunity. Fortunately, she recovered from each illness pretty quickly. Sigh...I wished Mei Mei would be hale and healthy in no time.

Da Gege had been coughing for a long time too. He had sensitive airways and sinus...ah...Dr Lim joked that he must have inherited good genes lor...oh well...

Our cute jie jie...the ever motivated and studious one...thought this soft toy resembled her. Ah...and yes, she had a soft spot for soft toys, like her daddy, and there were SO MANY soft toys on her bed...

Ha, the cute one...who loved to sing the Months of the Year song nowadays...We were so glad that he had taken to school so well...

Ah...she perspired a lot like Big Gege...
Nope, she had not bathed. Her wet slick hair was the result of hyperactive sweat glands and a sweltering day.

Ah....Jie would always wonder about the boys' uncanny ability to fall asleep quickly...but Jun's ability to sleep anywhere...definitely rivalled his legendary Papa...

The boys came up with games that involved Mei Mei. They liked to trap her. In this game, they trapped her with hula hoops.

Ha...soon, all 4 would be going to primary school and I WOULD FINALLY BE ABLE TO HAVE SOME FREE TIME ALONE in the morning.

It was always nice to snuggle with Xiao gege..

Xiao Gege had fun at the skate park at AMK ITE.

Check out his new shoes. Well, he wore them to school to show off to his favourite teacher, Ms Christine.

We had a new car...eh...the car was 10 years old, but it was in a superb condition and came with a TV. Papa allowed them to watch TV initially because we thought that would help keep Mei quiet...alas, Mei did not care for it, so no TV ever since.

It was already the 2nd of March! Gosh, where had all the time gone to? I would be turning 39 this year. Ah...looking forward to next year. When I was 30, I had a birthday party at Macdonald's, realizing a childhood dream. I said then, that I would have a high-tea session with different small groups of friends when I turned 40. Could not wait. WOW. 40, I would be eligible for Eldershield.

I wished I could say that I was now really wise and sure of the way my life was panning out...well...Mama was still uncertain of herself, her place in the world and the future...but we knew that God is in control and God is good. We plod onwards and know that God would make everything beautiful in His time. So...secure heart, sound mind, little one. Be still, fearful heart. Be of good cheer. God is in control. In Jesus' name, Amen.

(Feb 2020) Happy 1st Birthday, Mei Mei

This was the one Mama designed...

Ha, this was the one San Yi designed. San Yi was such a creative person. Alas...we had intended to hold a big celebration at NSRCC. Due to the Covid-19 situation, the government needed to use the bungalows as quarantine facilities...so we settled on having BBQ with close friends and family at Er Yi's condo.

San Yi won this bubble tea self-serve station giveaway in some IG contest. Hurray!

A simple yet beautiful dessert table!

Jun LOVED the cupcakes.

The star of the day - Mei and her favourite beverage, YUMS.

Changed into her birthday suit!

Got to take a photo to thank the sponsor.

Everyone loved bubble tea.

Tong put such a big scoop of pearls into his cup, gosh, it was half filled with pearls.

Cake-cutting time

Cake from Sweetest Moments.

I hope everyone had a jolly good time.

The hardworking people behind all the yummy food

Our littles one had turned one! How fast time flew.

She was most adorable. Some nights, she would crawl to Papa when he popped by the room to say good night and indicate that she wanted to go gai gai with Papa.

She understood her body very well. If she was tired, she would whine and point towards the bedroom door to ask Papa to bring her to bed. Once, Papa was already out of the house but she kept whimpering so Papa brought her back and she really fell asleep soon after.

Check out the impish grin...Ah she now had 6 teeth!

Her hair would be really messy when she woke up in the morning. Having a thick mob of hair, she also had that salty smell like big gege...hahah

Tried going around the neighbourhood in the pram, and she was ok with it most of the time.

Wai Po said we had to instill the habit of letting her wear shoes when we went out as she was now able to walk! Just a few days shy of her birthday, Mei mei took her first tottering steps in Wai Po's house.

Ah...she had sweaty feet like mama...poof...that salty smell in her shoes...gosh... and she was rather unladylike in the pram...ah....having unglamorous poses just like her jie jie...

Our little unicorn had a strong mind of her own. She refused to wear the unicorn hairband. Jie was way more obliging when she was this age.

Now you see it, next you don't!

Aunt Tin bought her a toy! Ha, she did look like the hamster, didn't she?

Calm and happy in the car seat...for a grand total of a few minutes for us to take this photo...and she had not been sitting much in the car seat then...sigh...

Happy Birthday, Mei Mei. We thank you for coming into our lives and we want to let you know that we love you to the moon and back. May you grow up to be the light and salt of the world. May God's goodness and mercy be so evident in your life. May your life be filled with peace and joy. May you be a shining testimony of God's grace and love.
