(27 Mar 14 Thurs) Water play at Westgate

The west held special memories for mama. I lived in the west when I was a little child, Jurong East Entertainment Centre was my favourite hangout when I was studying in River Valley High School, which was then at Teban Gardens. Now, the west had radically changed, no longer a sleepy neighbourhood but a bustling regional centre with a few spanking new malls which boasted of stores which were normally found in town, like Robinsons and H&M!

On this radiant day, we set off for the newest kid on the block - WESTGATE, which had been raved for its FREE awesome themed water play area, which was modelled to be like a gigantic garden.

Kay with her cheeky grin

The water area was slightly sheltered so it was rather pleasant to be there though the sun was blazing.

The pieces of logs were actually sponges, so it was rather fun to jump from one to another.

Kay dragging Auntie Pong to check out another corner.

Trying to have a shot of the kids playing together...

It never failed to amaze me how easy it was to make a kid happy. Just some water sprinkers, some spongy pads and they could play for a long time. Recently, mama was discussing about the pursuit of happiness with her kids at the tuition centre. I asked them what made them happy and one kid replied, "Rest." After finding out more, he revealed that he had tuition every day except on Mon and he wished he had more time to simply potter...

That was heartbreaking...i must remind myself not to be sucked up in the crazy maelstrom of forcing you two to chase good grades...easier said than done...but mama would try...

A huge dryer for people who got wet, ha.

ooooo what a huge watering can. the two of you loved playing with your watering cans when you took baths...

Checking out the dry playground. It had climbing structures...

whimsical spots to take a break...

an adorable colourful catepillar...

made us feel like we had shrunk and were flower fairies walking among the looming flora...

made some music..

hide in the swinging ball...

too bad we could not climb this steep wall yet..mayb when you were older...

there was even a gigantic tree house....

We finally left the playground and wanted to find somewhere to eat our lunch. Came across a kids' barber shop and decided to let tong have a hair cut.

It was bright and cheery and the service was delightful. The auntie gave us coins to have free joy rides after the haircut, gave you balloons and sweets. That made you two happy kids. Tong behaved queerly today though, he whimpered and sobbed, so mama had to hold him in my laps while his hair was cut...oh well...

oh the dashing one with the crew cut, now wai po would not nag us...

on a separate note, xun had taken to drawing nowadays. I gave  you a mickey and minnie mouse notebook and you liked to draw tiny stick figures representing our family and write your and issac's name. Ya, i had worried about you not knowing how to write when you started school next year...but I supposed...worrying did not add an inch to my stature, and God would take care of you...you would know what and how to do, at your own pace and timing, and it would also be His timing.

Captured one day while in ah gong's car...tong was breastfeeding his duck..laugh. we told him that only girls could feed their babies milk in this manner but he insisted he could too...oh well...and during the USA trip, he made up this hilarious song that went, "nei nei pok, nei nei pok, milk milk milk". More about the funny songs created during the usa trip in a later post.

mama loves the two of you so much...and my love will never ever cease...
