To Perth, to Perth, to relax and chill and play...A post of photos galore, let the photos do the talking!
THE family photo at our beautiful world-class Changi Airport. Papa and I totally agreed that Singapore was one of the best countries to live in. We had world class facilities, people were efficient, different races lived harmoniously together, malls opened till 10pm, yummylicious food everywhere, safe to walk on the streets at night...heh, we felt so thankful to be Singaporeans whenever we came back from another country...
Scooting all the way to Perth...
We checked out the cosy house. Ha, san yi and san yi zhang were wearing couple tees and we made them do this silly shot of camouflaging into the orange wall...
Day 1 CHECK IN
It was pretty much just picking up the rental car, settling into the quaint house and having dinner before turning in. It was a public holiday when we arrived, only KFC was open!
Day 2 SUPERMARKET AND HARBOURTOWN.
Some of us went to the supermarket to stock up on water and groceries...oooo wai po said she would cook delish dinner for us everyday. One of the best things about travelling with wai po was being able to enjoy piping hot food every morning and night! Plus she helped us wash, dry and fold our clothes everyday. We went home with clean clothes, hurray!
Oooo...we chalked up some $600-700 of groceries in total over 8 days of stay in Perth. Well, every meal was rather expensive and unpalatable in Perth, we were not fish and chips people and adored chinese food. Wai po saved us a lot of money by cooking every night. A coke cost aud 4.50!
busy packing...
The lush golf course lay outside the house...sprawling verdant fields...papa lamented that he did not get to play golf...
Ronnie the chef. ha, san yi zhang was in charge of several meals...ooo he did have a flair for cooking, conjuring delicious food, soups out of...almost nothing...except some limited seasoning...
The sweetie pie moping around the house...
Dashing tong in the denim shirt san yi bought him...
For some reason, xun was in love with er yi zhang and was faithfully tailing him all the time during the stay...
THe famous 4 sisters
plus a little one who always insisted on joining us in photo taking...
Daddy chilling in the spacious dining area...
Cottage-like furnishings...very very comfortable...
Day 3 The Maze
We goggled about this place and thought we would start off the holiday with something fun!
papa posted the picture of us on FB and his very nice friends commented we had just escaped from the prisons...
The house we stayed in!
What a lovely picture. Wai gong and wai po spent all the mornings and evenings accompanying the rascals, walking barefoot on the grass, reveling in the quiet moments and having wind in the hair...
The little boys of the house. Ha...well, i hoped they would be buddies forever...
This was a great place for families. THere were mazes of different sizes and varying difficulty...this one was particularly interesting, the walls were high so you could not see very far. You had to find a different coloured flag at each station...heh...
The very sleepy koala who woke up just for us to take a photo!
Xun's favourite at THe Maze, and in fact the whole trip! She loved this jumping pillow. IN fact, the adults had a hilarious time on it too, especially er yi, who sprinted around like wind...
The tire maze was really tricky, the guys spent a long time at it...ha it was solved by the brilliant er yi zhang, ha...something about guys and mazes...papa and san yi zhang refused to leave until they could solve it too...
Oh there was a water theme park at The Maze too! Sadly, we did not take any photos. Well, the slides were great fun and not at all scary. we spent most of our time in a tiny pool. We got free towels from the counter and the water in the bathrooms were warm!
DAY 4 Caversham Wildlife Park
We started the day by celebrating
I could not recall what made tong tong cry ...heh...all the families were wearing family tees today, mama bought one for every one. .erm...san yi could not wear hers coz it was a tad small...alas...
At Caversham Wildlife Park...not exactly as fascinating as our zoo...but we had nice up close encounters with the kangaroos and other animals...so it was rather novel too...
There were kangaroos and wallabies...we had pellets to feed them and they hopped eagerly over...
Wai po liked this white one extremely...
tong was dauntless...he went up to feed the kangaroo without much qualms..
ha, never knew wai gong could be so comical...
oh a sleeping kangaroo...reminded me of a little baby...ya...the two of you, who behaved like joeys and wanted to be in the carriers all the time...ah my poor back...
Family tees!
ha being silly as a family...
xun said she wanted to be a little lamb...
xiaoyi was definitely a pig in more ways than one...
up close and personal with animals...
papa was asked to swing a bucket full of water and did really well : )
Shaving of the lamb's wool...
Xun, you volunteered to be in the show! gasp. ha and tong followed. double gasp. it was rather funny, they gave you bottles and I thought you were gonna have a competition to see who could finish the milk first. Turned out that they let the baby goats out and you had to feed the goats..the goats were sure famished and finished the milk in minutes!
Taking photo with the famous...WOMBAT
DAY 5 Freemantle
A quaint little town...
Taking in the sights while walking to their market...which was like our pasarbella in turf city, lots of little stalls selling local food and products...
we walked past a playground and took a breather...in fact, lots of our time was spent at playgrounds, just sitting around and languishing in the sun together...
mama took san yi's camera and went on an arty trail....
Talking about arty, papa bought a duper silly game from Harbourtown. We only played it like on the second last night. It was a game where people had to guess the kind of pictures the other players would be displaying for a certain theme...some pictures were really random, like grass...some themes were really strange...coupled with crazy people like xiao yi who did not seem to be on the same wavelength as the rest...the result was an explosive hilarious time. ha...well xiaoyi won the game though...we should play it when you grew older...
tong went barefoot and his hands and feet got all sooty...
DAY 6 SWAN VALLEY
We ate lots of free chocolate pellets at this chocolate shop. This must have been tong's favourite stop.
Then lunch at Cheese Barrel. Well..papa thought it would show the cheese making process or something...turned out this cafe imported most of the cheese...only breads were available...so we ordered the costly and miserly looking bread...drinks...and one slice of cheese made in australia...oooo only er yi zhang and papa managed to stomach them...
The great thing about the cafes here was that every one had a playground! THere was a sand pit at the Cheese Barrel and we spent a long time there...
Well we went to a winery but it was not some set up where you could see the process of how grapes were made into wine..or have wine tasting...heh but wai po and san yi zhang did taste some of the grapes from the shrubs and claimed they were really sweet! We also went to the HOuse of honey and bought lots of honey! Also pit stopped at an ice cream store... san yi had so much ice cream over the past few days that she could not indulge in any more ice cream...haha
could not recall if this was the day we had the BBQ. strangely, xun claimed that the bbq was her second most favourite activity on the perth trip. Every night when we snuggled in bed, you would sing the "linger
song. At first you missed Singapore...but as the days passed, you declared you loved Australia and would miss it when you returned home...
now two weeks had lapsed since we returned to singapore and you asked about australia and wanted to go back soon...hahaha
DAY 7 ADVENTURE WORLD
wai po and wai gong decided to stay at home as they would not enjoy the rides and it would be a waste of time and money. Wai po stayed at home to practise her calligraphy while wai gong watched tv...
we walked separately...some of them went to take the thrill rides...
and we took the cable ride...ha...and you saw them walking on the ground!
Found a shady spot to have lunch...then we moved to the tables at the restaurant instead...
We took all the kiddy rides...tong was too short for some...you liked the spinning tea cup ride...we played in the pool but the water was too chilly...
and chalet sweet chalet, greeted by aromatic food when we reached the house...
DAY 8 - King's park and Harbourtown
We thought we could check out at 11 but it turned out to be 10am! The cleaning ladies were here and we made a frantic rush. Wai po and san yi packed everything frantically into the bags and off we zoomed, to King's park for breakfast!
Picnic under the shady tree...overlooking the azure sea...
the grandparents hiked around...
The mischievous san yi and san yi zhang and their comical poses...
sigh...it was a truly enjoyable trip...time with family...was always precious...mama had many heart to heart talks with er yi and san yi...papa had fun with er yi zhang, san yi zhangm xiaoyi and wai going, playing cards till the wee hours...wai po cooked yummy food for us lovingly...
Well...maybe we could come back again someday...wai po asked papa if there were chalets in other countries...maybe we could go on another trip with everybody again...
Cheers, to more memories...
