It was papa's friend's son's birthday. At a really unique place, the Hort Park. Now, mama had gone there before with godma a really long time ago when mama was still unmarried and childless...it was a chic thai restaurant, Hort park was breathtakingly beautiful...it was very inaccessible though, you really needed a car to go there.
tong had been insisting on wearing thomas clothes nowadays...he had wanted to wear the thinner thomas PJ out initially. After much coaxing, and teasing that the thin ones would allow ppl to see his neh neh poks, he chose to change into this better fitted one. plus he had a wound on his knee so I convinced him to wear long pants.
phew, and he loved the white loafers so he did not look so shabby after all! PHEW : )
What a sight. just take a look at that mural...it was awesome...
if we dined al fresco at the restaurant here, we could sit here and gaze at the huge pool...we should really come here on a starry night...it would be so beautiful...mama liked the outdoors, I liked to feel the heat of the sun warming my skin...eh...when I was in the shade...i liked being immersed in the open space...
check out our matching sorta dresses..not exactly the same, I would love to find one which looked like xun's...but close enough, with the flare skirts and cerulean blue...well...papa's friend noticed and commented so i guessed our matching efforts paid off : )
mama and her darling boy...mama had espoused the respectful parenting philosophy...but had a hard time drawing a line between being respectful and indulgent...and i never could understand the part about when to exert boundaries... papa felt mama was giving in too much and mama felt bad : (
so i took papa's heed and did not pander to tong tong's whims. I also talked firmly to tong about how mama understood he wished i could grant him all his wishes but mama was her own person and had her wants and likes...mama was NOT a robot and could not let tong do whatever he liked..
amazingly...you know, tong seemed to be relieved that mama was exerting boundaries. today, he nearly threw a fit but after the lecture, he went off to bathe happily and skipped to wai po's house. when I left, the two came to kiss me and hurried me to go off so they could start eating the skittles which I packed and said they could eat when they missed me...
maybe that was it - that magical balance, respecting the children as individuals who could reason and make choices...and drawing boundaries for them to let them know we were sure of what we were doing and we would guide them when they went haywire...
oh this room was so beautifully decorated that i had to take a pic to show er yi, who was planning for you you's birthday.
oooo secret gardens...
what walking pets AGAIN? ha...xun was a tad sad when she heard mama say we got to throw the elefanis away as they were all out of air. papa comforted her and now that she got new pets, maybe she would not miss them?
We took the pets to explore the surroundings...
A little secret hideout to hide from the sweltering sun...
there were swings around and we found a shady spot and took a breather there...
even found toadstools on the way back..xun noticed they grew in semi circles...i wondered y?
ooooooo another lovely cake...
yes...relishing the sweet treat. It did not end on a good note though, tong could not bear to leave and wanted to go to the playground when we had to go to ah ma's house...I supposed I should have prepared him, he really wanted to go back to the swings and playground to play, we did not have enough time to explore and he SAW the playground...and we rushed back for the cake cutting...mama felt bad, like I had disappointed him for I knew he really wanted to go back to the playground...sobsss....
random pic - tong with his duck...
xun in her very short dress....papa loved her bouncy butt...
and the two scooters performing a ballerina pose on the scooters..
well, praying for good days ahead....that tong would get over this terrible two stage soon...and...gasp...school year was starting next year...we would no longer have this luxury of free time and not going for last minute adventures...we would see how things go : )
love you loads.
