The holiday that the kids had been eagerly anticipating was finally here!
We had to take a really early ferry, so we were there bright and chirpy at 7 plus am. Boy, was it crowded. It seemed like everyone else wanted to make use of the long weekend to travel to Bintan.
The ravenous ones sat on the floor to eat some bread and snacks while waiting for papa to get the tickets and check in the luggage.
Yay we finally boarded the ferry and were on our way to our destination!
Well, they woke up pretty early so all three took a siesta on the ship.
The boys in matching wear...we bought these in Philippines, they sure looked dapper and smart in them. I wished we could find matching wear for Mama and Xun too.
Ah, our beautiful bungalow...
Playing at the lobby. Jayron and Jun were so chummy and engaged in lots of pretend play. It seemed like they were travelling on the train, horses and planes to different countries. At one point, the boys were shaking the plane so violently that Aunt Val and I were afraid that they would break the structure. ha.
I was glad that Jun had found someone to play with him.
There was a TV and it was showing some movie.
So the kids lounged on the comfy pillows and whiled some time away watching the show...
The resort was rather lovely....
Free face painting. Not the best of experiences though, as the lady was really slow and not exactly artistically inclined. JJ wanted a starfish...
Tong's dinosaur was rather cute
It took a long while for jie's drawing to be completed. I thought that Aunt Val could do a better job in a shorter time.
Only our family and JJ's family managed to secure the earlier ferry. The rest would come via the evening ferry. The children were bored to tears waiting for the rest of the cousins to arrive. We went to the free indoor playground but it did not hold their interest for long.
The highlight was the private pool looking out to the sandy beach and cerulean sea.
The kids spent all three days soaking in the water. Tong was so sunburnt when he came back to Singapore. He gushed about the frog that pooped in the water to Wai Po and Coach Alex.
Ha, our penguin float did not survive the trip. It was fun while it lasted. The kids took turns to ride on it.. seemed like there was a leak in one of its feet so we had to throw it away.
The water baby
Jun was contented sitting on the steps for the whole time. Heh.
It was so hard getting a group shot. Gosh.
Indoor shots: Ah ma was so busy throughout the holiday as she cooked scrumptious food for us every day. Ha a little mishap happened. Aunt Val forgot to bring the charcoal along so we could not barbecue. It was a blessing in disguise for we got to enjoy Ah Ma's yummy home-cooked food. The star of the dinner was the tasty BBQ pineapple Korean sauce. It made everything taste so good. ha
The adults watched TV...
played mahjong...
even the kids wanted to learn and play
played games...
ate and chatted
Some shots of the family
Papa could fall asleep anytime anywhere
The little one was in his beloved PJs really early and slept while papa was snoozing too. Ha, the oldest and the youngest in the family were both catching forty winks at the same time. Lazy bums.
The young ones were sprinting here and there and everywhere...they played school again, it was their perennial favourite game.
Ha peas in a pod
For a moment, I thought this was little Jun, gosh, the brothers were looking more and more alike.
Ha, tried to get a shot of them in their matching tiger tees for the boys. Caysen did not have the tee as his mummy did not buy it when the rest of us did. Ha, the kids came up with the creative solution that he was the birthday boy so he did not have to wear the school uniform!
ha, jun pooped and he smelt really bad. That was why Caysen did not dare to lean near him. opps.
Sleeping shots. ha. Missing Jun here as he refused to lie down.
Well, he was just pretending to sleep, this great pretender, a really mischievous one too.
Ah, all the beach shots now. We had a really wondrous time at the beach. Tong enthused about how he caught crabs with his bare hands to anyone who bothered to ask him about how his trip was when he came back to Singapore. Ha.
The creatures were fascinating. We saw white crabs, pretty seashells with starry patterns (they looked so comely that we thought that they might be manufactured objects but found so many on the shore so we concluded they must be real), schools of fish and the kids even caught clams!
Simple pleasures of life - basking in the sun, spending time with cousins, discovering the wonders of nature...
On the last day, we decided to release the clams instead of cooking and eating them. Ha, Ah ma warned that we might get stomachaches!
Bye clams!
On the ship that was bound for Singapore. The kids asked to sit with one another. Here, we had two exhausted little girls curled up in exactly the same position! Ha, I teased them for sleeping like shrimps. Xun and Tong lamented on the short duration of the holiday and wished that it could be longer. I could not wait to get home. I missed my bed!
A fantabulous compilation by Aunt Lindy.
So where should we go next? We would be going to Birmingham at the end of the year...oooo 3 months of wintry weather. Aunt Lindy suggested going to Okinawa in June...wow, that sounded exciting. Yay....looking forward to another trip with the cousins once again.
I love my cousins forever!
