(June 2018) Paw Patrol show at United Square, Children's Season at SAM and National Museum

So, Jun loved Paw Patrol. He identified himself with the ditsy and careless Dalmatian, Marshall, and was so eager to go for the show. I guessed he chose Marshall as he liked fire engines!

The crowd cheered when the cute cartoon characters came onto the stage.

Little Jun was jiving to the song...which was really hard to sing to for me as I always got the lyrics wrong... ha

Ooooo each child took on one character. Jie was Sky, Tong was Chase, Jun was Marshall, Mama was some snow husky and Papa was Ryder.

Went to Timezone at Plaza Singapura after that and chanced upon the poster for Incredibles 2. The kids remarked that their family was just like ours!

SAM

Met up with Aunt A to go to the Singapore Art Museum for the Children's festival. Saw these funny installations outside the museum and the kids were shouting into the pipes.

Lazing in this dreamy, fantastical land...I loved the cartoons, they were very whimsical and depicted everyday scenes you could see in Singapore...and there were some very funny depictions of imaginary characters like superheroes juxtaposed next to the mundane drawings...all together, very intriguing ... I was captivated...

The little otters, pangolins and hamsters

This would be lovely as a placemat, all the yummy kuehs in Singapore!

Lounged on beanies and watched some cartoons together...

Went to a magical land where our images were transposed into the scenic countryside that was blooming with beautiful flowers...

When one stood there for a long time, the human's image would morph into an egg and hatch into an animal, it was most fascinating.

Did you know that it was Jun's face on the biggest snowman? Could not wait to go to the wintry UK at the end of the year.

Went to another room, loved the chaotic mesh of colours and textures.

There were squeakers dangling from these woolly threads...

Hmmm, what creature was this?

Finding squeakers that were sewn onto the pillows.

I wished we had all the time in the world to just linger  here...

Sometimes, I felt I was frozen in the past...still wondering how the time had flown by so quickly. Mama just went to a friend's dad's funeral with papa. Met up with his bunch of army friends whom we had known for almost half our lifetimes!

Yet, it felt like we were hanging out at the canto pub, Dragonfly, dancing to old tunes and drinking expensive, intoxicating concoctions and enjoying the hedonistic days of being young and carefree...

Yeah, it was a walk down memory lane as they talked about the usual ancient insider jokes and silly nonsense...all of us...adults approaching our 40s, all being parents to some little ones, the supposedly worldly and sensible people....being all inane and childish again...

Aunt A headed home and we made our way to the National Museum. Ah...free bouncy castles...

The theme was "Playgrounds"...this was one of the iconic designs that used to adorn our HDB landscape

Twirl, swirl, pull and release

That dragon rocking chair was really cool

I loved old things. I was a sucker for all things nostalgic...yeah, we used to have sand pits in these marbled tiled playgrounds...

And lots of climbing structures and the adults were not afraid that we would fall and hurt ourselves...my sisters and I would run all over the neighbourhood, visiting the different playgrounds, while Wai po cooked at home.

We had a wild time then. Mama even climbed into that gigantic canal behind our flats and walked through the underground tunnel to emerge at the other side of the humongous expressway that spanned next to the park. It was really dangerous, now that I thought about it. But we were young and reckless. We were adventurous. We had fun. No doubt, this would definitely be frowned upon now. Kids had no freedom to hang around in the neighbourhood by themselves anymore.

Back to the bouncy castles as the little one was asleep when jie and gor played.

He was growing up into a fine young lad.

Well, 3 weeks of the holiday had flown by. Yay...it would be the predictable routine once again when school started. heh...Jie had ambivalent feelings towards that. She loved school and her friends. But she loved the lack of homework and opportunity to go out to play during the hols. Ha...I must say, you kids had a really great quality of life. You had the privilege of going to all these places on weekdays as I did not work fulltime. I hoped you looked back upon your childhood fondly and declared, "Yeah, that was the best time of my life!"
