Set off to London city centre again after breakfast at Macdonald's.
Oh no, the Big Ben is under restoration and we could not view its full glory. I did not know it was that BIG. well, papa commented it was not called the BIG Ben for nothing. Did you know that the name was the name of the bell and not the tower?
Westminster? I was confused by all the cathedrals, palaces and towers.
There was a plaza full of sculptures of prominent people in history.
The iconic red phone booth. Well, nobody was using it very much now, it was more of a tourist photo spot nowadays. Many had been taken off the street but some people had been finding new uses for them - like a book exchange corner and a snack joint
Without the phone booths around, how as Superman going to change into his costume? HAHA
10 Downing Street, the official residence of the PM, who was Theresa May now, and the UK folks just announced to have a vote of no-confidence in her this evening (12 Dec) at 6 pm. The pound could come crashing down tomorrow if they voted the PM out. There was much tension about the Brexit deal, what a time of turmoil. How momentous it was to be here for such a historic event.
Caught a glimpse of London Eye from a distance
The women who supported the war efforts
Wow, a soldier on a horse
Trafalgar Square
Entrance to Buckingham Palace
Strolled down The Mall
Statue just outside the palace
We did not manage to catch the changing of the Guards but we did saw a few pairs marching around
Yes, we were here! Photograph as proof.
A monument to the war efforts contributed by Singapore to WW2
Oh Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park
There were lots of thrilling rides that Jie wanted to go on, but she was either too short (min 140 cm) or she had to be accompanied by an adult and papa was not paying 5 pounds to scare himself.
We were blessed. Different people gave us 4 tokens because they were heading home and did not need the excess tokens. So Jun and Tong enjoyed a free ride on this. Jun was supposed to do it alone but he was a scaredy- cat.
So gor gor accompanied him.
After searching for a long time, we finally found something the kids could go on on their own.
It was really fun to be whizzing down the slope.
They had two turns and thoroughly enjoyed them.
While walking to the train station, we saw this floating man. ha
On the train back to the hotel to pick up the car.
Our sweet home away from home. Tong's favourite purchase from Primark. Here was happy Pikachu with squinty eyes.
Then the angry Pikachu.
But Tong preferred it to be happy with big eyes so he turned the sequins in a way that made the bushy-eyed Pikachu smile. heh...eh...but there would be like a moustache in the middle. ahahah
Well.. it was the end of the second last weekend in the UK. WOW counting down to the last weekend and it was time to fly back to our beloved Singapore.
