(9 Aug 13 Fri) National Day Celebration

We were a pretty patriotic family. While many people might gripe about the high costs of living, the bureaucratic government, the inexorable stress of the high-paced materialist society, I always felt very blessed to be living in this tiny nation. I could walk on the street without any fear with two kids in tow...I could rely on the public transport (albeit congested and tardy at times) to bring me anywhere...I truly value its commitment to racial and religious equality! Our family was the epitome of an ideal family unit - two educated parents with one daughter and one son. ha.

Auntie Candice ordered a Singapore Flag sponge cake!

They had this amusing tradition of lining all the cousins up according to age then according to height. It was a Chinese New Year's tradition, I wondered what got them to do it at National Day! Must be the red clothes.

Ah Gong and Ah Ma got tickets to the parade so they went off, while the party went on in their house. What irony. Ha. Check out Ah gong, who looked dashing and sporty in such youthful gear! He borrowed the jersey and shoes from Xiaoshu and especially tailored the white pants. They were volunteering in the Residents' Committee and were having such fun in those activities.
Food galore. It was an incessant feast. I thought I had gained weight over the super long weekend.

Argh, our little National Flag bearers!

Check out the good looking family, according to your papa. Well, mama was not decked in such nifty wear, alas I forgot I actually did have red t shirt and white shorts too!

As a separate aside, papa bought these decals from SPC. Ha, there were many designs to choose from, we had chosen those which represented us the most! Xun chose the ballerina for herself and said mama should take the shopping one. She also chose the scootering boy for tong tong, though we thought the boy holding a truck would have been a good choice too. Ha.

Love you Singapore. May you prosper forever!
