It was a balmy Friday afternoon, school was over, and we decided that we would go to the Gardens by the Bay to visit the flower dome which was having the Dahlia Dreams Floral Display inspired by the Chinese classical tale Journey to the East.
we thought JJ might be joining us so we headed to the cloud forest first. Tong was sleepy and having a bad stomach, so we rented a pram for him.
pretty good thing as he was carrying Jun jun for most of the journey and it was a load off poor mama's shoulders.
An impressive sight greeted us
the flowers reminded me of the egg gummies that we could buy from 7-11 in the past
what a gargantuan ingot!
ha, jie loved cuddling her little baby
and tong tong too, both were really experts at taking care of the little one
the smell of chrysanthemum filled the air, I liked it, very aromatic and soothing
the dancing flowers that mama always adored
tong deliberately put his head down so he would look like jun, the two cheeky monkeys
they used leaves, bark, wood to make monkey displays, cool
ah, finally a photo of all of us
we thought these flowers looked like monkeys too!
any uncanny resemblance was purely coincidental
a sweet lady offered to take a group shot for us. A company was having some event in the function room so there was booming music and xun wished she could join in the party.
liked how the fairy lights in the function room looked like hanging tangerines and suited the CNY mood
ha, tong must always exhibit funny faces when taking photos
it was very pleasant to be in the flower dome...the cool temperature, the faint fragrance
if only we could have a cup of tea in a tea house here, that would be lovely
ah, mama's zodiac sign
there was even a cave
I supposed this was the legendary cave where the Monkey God reigned?
even had a mini waterfall
looked like gigantic bonsai plants to me
hydrangea! I loved these.
orrr, a family of monkeys
Xun wanted to have a photo of the monkeys perching on the mountain top
they wanted to play on the interactive games at the entrance but they had changed them to static displays!
we took the buggy to Bayfront MRT
a lovely spot for a picnic. The pond was covered with a thick layer of moss and algae, making it look like a grassy carpet. Xun thought she could step on it!
we walked by the "future of us" exhibit and thought we could drop in to take a look since it was free
we were led into a voluminous dome shaped theatre and it looked like we were gazing at a starry sky
the next stop was in another theatre with a show depicting the future of Singapore
there were even beanbags for people to laze in
pretty impressive show, with all the cinematic effects
a glimpse into the futuristic society we might have one day
went into another luminous room which provided a mock up of how the futuristic place would look like
everywhere integrated seamlessly with state-of-the-art transport systems
vegetable farms in the sky
this was the most thrilling one for the kids. They could scribble on the screen and send the message to the ceiling!
not knowing how to write, they drew pictures
pretty dreamy place
final stop - the playground. When we used the swing, it actually powered up an energy bank which would light up and send a star or crescent shaped bubble foam into the air
roller coaster swings?
yup, the star shaped bubble foam
the crescent one
and the majestic Singa Lion
took the underpass back to the train station...I was walking Tong the puppy
and this was Xun the puppy
and they requested for photos with this psychedelic backgrounds
met papa at Bugis, had dinner and we took the Downtown line back home together. Ha, what a relaxing and fruitful day. The March hols would be here soon, so we would be hitting the town again!
