Yup, the Chinese New Year was here. Got off to a bad start as mama caught a virulent flu virus since the day before the eve and was really sick : (
Our CNY routine: Marzuki in the morning to eat the longevity noodles lovingly cooked by ah ma
jie had blossomed into a lanky lass, ha she even asked for her own bag to put the ang baos.
Next stop: Serangoon to visit ah ma's extended family
had fun at the playground while we waited for papa to park the car
the sheer number of shoes!
It was rowdy and festive...
Lots of people
lots of food
the small ones gathered to play video games
the teens gathered to chit chat - from two separate families, coincidentally, both girls were 18 and both boys were 15!
san gu gong was trying to take photos of the celebration
the adults mingled around and caught up on the latest gossips
every yi por wanted to cuddle the cute tim tim
the male cousins congregated to play cards
rick and tong tong were wearing identical Chinese costumes!
extremely hard to get a photo of both of
them looking up
the four munchkins snuggled on the sofa to watch the girls duel
having a cozy time
Next stop: Ang mo kio to visit mama's ah gong. it was unfortunate, ah gong was admitted into the hospital...this year, san yi and san yi zhang did not go back to Malaysia, we finally had all the sisters together on Chinese New Year Day!
xun was a very sociable girl, she made friends easily, and could interact well with older kids...I supposed papa would credit it to her good looks and vivacious personality hahaha
this was the first time san yi zhang saw the adults playing mahjong along the breezy corridor. san yi zhang found the whole thing intriguing and hovered around to watch and was astounded by Mama's third uncle's luck
mama's fourth uncle, he doted on us very much when we were young, often buying Chinese New Year Clothes for us...I always had good memories of watching tv, snacking, playing games with the uncles at the AMK house
wai po was at the hospital earlier and just returned. I felt a sense of relief, it was as if peace and order was restored in the household. haha...when we first stepped in, the aunties asked papa and me if we could get the rice cooker to work. well...wai po always helmed the kitchen, so...every one seemed a tad lost when she was not around... I sure wished I had that kind of calming influence on my own sisters..haha
mama's little cousin, Xiao Xun Ying, had become not so small anymore. ha...see tong lurking behind?
well, the three cousins were always up to no good when they got together...apparently, you you had fallen in love with jie jie. Er yi commented that he would utter her name repeatedly in his sleep haha
ha xiaoyi wished that she had a bag like this too, well, she must be jealous of xun xun
who looked all grown up and polished here in her body hugging cheongsam, which we bought for $10 plus in a supermart in JB. Jie jie was fastidious about her clothing, opting for well tailored cuts over the baby doll types...well I supposed papa would totally concur with her choices
steamboat as usual at ah ma's house. we always named the homes after the mothers, like wai po's house, ah ma's house. Even for the two of you, marzuki was always fondly dubbed as ah ma's house. I supposed...coz the moms held the fort at home?
oh the first time uncle alston appeared at our extended relatives' gathering.
ha thought it was interesting to take a photo of the shoes outside the door
Last stop - Marzuki
our tong tong was bushed so he took a nap
everyone had gathered at Marzuki
Always loved meeting up with the extended family. Our faourite - Grand Uncle Brian and Grand Aunt Sharon
Jayron and JJ were decked in traditional Chinese costumes too
da biao gu and Xiao biao gu with Xun xun
ha caught papa snoozing with tong tong
food galore
shoes galore
highlight of the night - lion dance performance by the tykes
they even used the mandarin orange slices to form 4d numbers!
1006?
9001?
ha, xun also got into the act...this time round, they gave out the mandarin oranges to the adults, insisting that every one should eat one for good luck
What a very pretty lioness.
our newest addition - Patsy Yiyi, whom xiaoshu affectionately dubbed as Pepsi cola.
Lo Hei - Wishing all of us a year of prosperity and health
Happy first day of CNY!
