(22 Apr 16 Fri) Where Art met science

So our darling jun jun was going through a clingy phase...he got rather cantankerous at times...haha, crying and whining and needing to be carried by MAMA only

so he was definitely in the grouchy mood

the ironic thing was, he would be such a quiet and contented baby whenever we went out. he would be snug and warm in the carrier, with no cares in the world...all of mama's friends would remark that he was such a genial and chirpy easy baby. ha

the universe was my oyster

ART SCIENCE MUSEUM

it was an intriguing title - where art met science. kids get to enter free on Fridays! hurray, mama took leave since wai po was away, so we dated JJ to go to the museum.

was indeed mesmerizing and dazzling...first up - an iridescent burst of blooms and colours in a dark dark room

went into another chamber and we saw huge murals depicting a serene scene of mountains and seas...well, the waves would move and make crashing sounds, one could laze on one of the bean bags and just relax...except tong thought a show was coming up, but there was none...so he was not too interested to linger

next up, they crawled into a tiny hole and that led to a really slippery slide

it was great fun so they went up and down several times

Meanwhile, Jayron was experimenting on this interactive table where transport routes like roads, railway tracks, rivers would appear when you put blocks of the same colours together

blue blocks - water way

Chaotic transport system in this little town

Went to a really dark room and saw these tiny adorable animations on the surface. So, you had to put objects on the surface and the animations would gather around the objects. When you introduced a lot of motion, like waving the objects, the animations would become more animated and you would see bursts of shooting stars, so it was really cute

You could even use your hand too, look at the ring of flames around xun's hand

the next stop was a fascinating one

first, we each chose a picture, tong chose a plane, xun a spaceship, Jayron a bus and JJ a house

Once you coloured it, you scanned it into a machine, and the picture would become an animation on this big screen

Oh Jayron's bus!

JJ's house at the water front! ooo, must be an expensive house.

Tong's jet plane.

There - Tong's shadow near his flashy jet plane

ha, jie jie's spaceship

There were some colourful blocks, they glowed and changed colours

this was enthralling to me, it looked so real and mystic, but the kids were not impressed and moved right along

this marine display had the same idea. You coloured a picture, scanned it in and they became live sea creatures. What was so mind blowing was that the jellyfish actually quivered and squirmed when they swam, it was almost like they were alive!

This was tong's favourite, the balls might look like they could burst easily, but they were actually very hardy. There was one particular  boy who looked like he was way overweight for his age, he was bouncing on one non-stop and the ball survived, ha.

the balls glowed and changed colours when they were moved around

it was a really pretty sight

oh JJ's clown fish

xun's seahorse

Jayron's colourful jellyfish

there were two as he scanned the picture twice. So adorable.

This was a really nifty installation. You could design the course of the hopscotch on a computer and they would display it on this floor right away. Once you stepped onto the shape, it disappeared. The kids spent quite some time playing here.

A really surreal and breath-taking picture.

Bucolic landscape...did not captivate them though

then we walked through this fairy lights installation, lots of people were milling around to take photos

It was especially magical when they changed colours

felt like Christmas all over again

after the museum trip, we ate dinner together at the food court...and we headed home with papa! Definitely gonna check out new things and have more adventures with JJ and Aunt Val again during the June holidays.
