(7 Jun 16 tues) Maritime Gallery at Marina South

so after the gardens by the bay, we took a cab to Marina South. Wow, mama had not come to this part for a long time. It used to have many steamboat restaurants and we would fly kites here. those days...

came upon this place on a blog. Interesting place and it was absolutely free and empty! Took photos with all the stand-up boards.

ha, so many occupations to choose from

handled a real anchor, boy was it heavy

yup, when jayron and jun were bigger, we could have all 5 kids in the photo

very nice, we got free hats

the first exhibit was a video that showed the growth of Singapore as a marine port...the kids just whizzed past it

saw some exhibits but they did not retain the kids' interests

a real container!

we enjoyed this segment - we could race the ships across the table by pressing buttons on the computer screens. Everything was a pristine white, I called it the white room.

Lots of information about Singapore's port

ha at this point, Aunt Shani sent some photos over on the bosom buddies. They had taken these while they were having food at Plaza's food court. Matthew and Isabella were in South Africa now, we looked forward to seeing them soon.

ok, back to the Maritime Gallery

This was a ship bridge simulator and there were some other simulators too but they were under maintenance

another part of the gallery, this time, the room was clad in black. We did the race again this time with black ships. Interestingly, the white and black room were juxtaposed side by side. When we were in the white room, I did not even notice this room, it was as if it was hidden or like a shadow!

there were telescopes for the kids to look afar

this was the Boat restaurant that we would eat dinner later on

went to the kids' room and lingered for a long time. It was exciting. You could take pictures of you in the uniforms of different occupations

doodled on the screen

tong played with the lego bricks...we had the whole room to ourselves, cool or what

we had snacks and chatted...tong was throwing a tantrum as he wanted to slide down on the seat in another room and quarrelled with jie jie. SIGH

ha darling jun jun as a manager?

wow what a dapper looking guy in the smart suit

the kids doodled and sent the pictures to papa who, sadly, never received them

there was even a playground on the rooftop! It was a lovely view, except you could smell the oily fumes emitted from the ships

Splendid anyway

my darling jun finally fell asleep.. The pitiful little one, who always napped on the go as we were always out and about

the boat restaurant!

definitely could feel the ship wobbling...oooo...the food was sumptuous and came in big portions. Not too costly, so it was really enjoyable. perhaps we could bring papa next time?

on the way to the train station, we saw the planes in the sky...rehearsing for NDP...

xun wanted me to take a photo of the fish she coloured before she trashed it.

took the train and went to city hall to pick papa up. What an amazing day we had.
