(Jun 17) River Safari

We came just not too long ago but we did not have enough time to explore all the enclosures in River Safari, so tong beseeched me to take him here again.

Of course, we must utilise the Friends of the Wild pass...we loved outdoor time, what better place to do it than at our "wild, nature" parks?

A squirrel monkey. Tong's kindy teacher was teaching him about the different species of monkeys. He could rattle off the various names, like capuchin, tamarin, macaques....I learnt quite a lot from him and picked up lots of new knowledge from the zoo. My favourite was the cotton top tamarin simply coz the name sounded so cute. Tong's favourite was some emperor tamarin, maybe he thought it sounded so grand and kingly?

We even caught a special show. The host asked if anyone knew what iguanas ate and tong yelled,
"Leaves!" I did not think that would be the right answer...I thought lizards ate animals? It turned out to be RIGHT. Tong explained that he learnt that from the library book, well I was the one who read the books to him but I had no recollection of the facts. Gosh Gosh.

We went for the free cruise again, spotted herons and giraffes...

Then we headed to the cafe for....the panda baos of course!

There was a promotion, one bao was going for $2 instead of the usual $2.90, so we bought 3 instead. I wished they sell such cute baos in the supermarkets. I thought I ever saw one before, but the filling was red bean. Perhaps tong and jun would relish them, both were bao people, like me!

Both Kai Kai and Jia Jia were in a genial mood today so we spotted both gentle giants lounging and feasting on the bamboos with nary a care in the world...

Never observed the structures carefully, turned out that there were some scenic spots...

Jun had taken to posing for photos as he was constantly hounded by his siblings to pose for their iphones. ha...

Saw some rainbow snakes in the store! Jie had wanted to get a soft toy snake at one point of time..I hoped she had banished that idea, I did not fancy scaly slithering reptiles in my house. Shudder.

a blast from the past. A reminder of how fast you kids were growing up. You are my inheritance from God, I thank God for giving me the privilege to shepherd you on Earth and pray that you three would be salt and light of the world when you grow up. In Jesus' name, Amen.
