The Chronicles of the Tay Family: (27 May 2024) Malacca Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, we headed to Afamosa Safari Wonderland! They gave Singaporeans local rates for the admission tickets! WOO HOOO.

Saw capybaras! Ha the adorable and cuddly capybaras, which were said to resemble our Tong

Bought animal feed to feed the animals such as goats, geese, deer, ponies

Jun said Gorgor had come out, sitting on the water buffalo's back...well, we laughed and said he was silly for it would mean that all of us were monkeys as well...roll eyes...Tong also said Jun was a monkey but that he was adopted

The cutest scene ever at a zoo...a prickle of porcupines scampering down the pathway

They allowed the audience to touch the snake! I thought it would be muscular, hard, dry and scaly...but it felt rather damp and SQUISHY!

After the show, the children could get up close and personal with the animals. Tong said the snake was rather heavy. Heh...Dylan had become bolder with his cousins around and cheering him on to try new experiences...heh

Ha, ya tong would taunt Jun for being a monkey, Jun did it too...and DYLAN also said we were monkeys...so ya...really....MONKEY family

After the animal show, we went to the elephant's exhibit...

and now we had our elephant princess and prince

Xiaoshu and Dylan went too...the very brave Dylan

We fed the elephants carrots and bananas to reward them for their back-breaking (literally!) work...heh...

Ah Gong gave the elephant 5 ringgit for it to pass to its trainer and it really did so!

And while having a 5ringgit note and a banana in its nose, it somehow managed to eat the banana and the note remained intact in its nimble nose!

We took a raft ride to the MONKEY ISLAND. Ah Gong joked about leaving the kids on the island and having the kids teach the monkeys how to plant fruit tress, and ruling over them...

And becoming the Monkey King and Queen LOL. We thought it was rather clever of them to put the monkeys on another island so we could take the raft somewhere to alight and have close encounters with the monkeys!

Jun was scared of the animals so Ah Ma protected him...

The squirrel monkeys were so intelligent. We wanted to feed them carrots but they did not even want them, having eaten too much and being tired of them. One actually snitched a grape from the zookeeper.

She gave Tong some sunflower seeds to lure the monkey to come down. The smart monkey tried to get the seed by lowering himself using his tail...

He leapt onto Tong's shoulder!

I thought it looked rather menacing.

Jun said Gor was the Monkey King as he was not scared of monkeys.

One leapt onto Papa's shoulder and lingered for quite a long while. Papa joked that it liked his BROAD shoulders.

LOL, Tong said Dylan looked so happy when he saw the monkey.

Tong said Dylan liked the monkey.

I loved this series of photos. The SHEER LOOK OF HORROR on her face. It was all authentic and not a single bit of pretense.

We walked further and saw some other squirrel monkeys. They were delighted to have the carrots that the other troop of monkeys had disdain for...

Tong said they looked so happy and they were so cute...

Saw the dusky leaf monkeys too...MONKEY ISLAND WAS FUN.

Went to the Reptile World. Ha saw Jun's favourite tortoises. These were herbivores and the sweet zookeeper plucked lots of leaves for the kids to feed these ancient animals. Oh, they moved rather quickly, to our amusement.

The zookeeper told us that there was a really quarrelsome one who went around picking fights, so they isolated him by putting him in the black pond turtles' enclosure. LOL He said that the black pond turtles were carnivorous and aggressive!

Ah Tong and his minions. He took great care of Dylan... held his hand, showed him interesting things, cheered him on...Xiaoshen said he walked SO MUCH...Tong was a really good big brother. He went to Yukang's home and took good care of Yukang's little sister too.

Poor Xiaoshen could not take the truck ride to tour the safari as the ride would be too bumpy for pregnant women...

She did not miss much, we saw pretty much animals that we would see at our own Singapore Zoo

The truck ride was exhilarating because it was really BUMPY and the truck ran down a few steep slopes..It was awfully sleep-inducing...scorching sun beating down on our heads...boring animals...rhythmic swaying of the truck...MEI took a nice 45-min nap...Tong and Xun drifted off to Lalaland too...

COUSINS FOREVER. Xiaoshen said that Dylan had so much fun when he was with his cousins ; )

Oh Xiaoshu's family went back to the villa while we went to the outlet mall

The boys were tired and did not want to walk anymore so they waited at the mall while we went to the Coach store...which was in an aeroplane!

Ah... posh luxurious first class seats...clad in COACH fabric

On the way home...ah...time for a nice long nap...erm...why did the little ones cover themselves with a jacket..and...erm that raised-in-a-barn Sarahbelle Tay with her legs at the top..and Tong's at the bottom....a tangle of legs...gosh

Dylan chastised them for taking SOOOO long. He said he had been waiting in the pool for AGES...it must have felt like eternity to him. LOL

Swam for almost 2 hours? Until it was dark and really late for dinner...Tong was indignant that Dylan took Xun's side and attacked him. SO much for taking care of him for the whole day. HA

Oh dear, Dylan fell and cut his lip. His lip was all red and bloodied. Mei...erm...ate sour plums so she had white lips. Xiaoshen thought it was such a funny sight and took a photo of them.

Ya! Mei, the sour plum lover, like Mama. Of all the kids, who would have guessed that Mei would be the one to take after Mama in this particular way?

OK, end of a very eventful and fun-packed DAY 2. Time to head home tomorrow. A very short but definitely fruitful trip. Well, we would be travelling with the twins on the next trip!
