1 Dec 2024 - Brisbane Day 5

Day 5 - Carrara Market, Harbour Town Premium Outlet, Broadbeach

Woah, December! Gosh, we were now in December.

Jie took her toast with Lotus biscoff spread and went to the balcony to eat...

First stop - Carrara Market. It was raining cats and dogs, gosh. Papa was very meticulous and studied the weather of the next day to make sure that we could carry out our activities. We were supposed to go to a theme park but Papa said that it would be busy on a weekend and it was predicted that it would be a rainy Sun so we went to do some shopping instead.

Nice quaint market...chanced upon a store that sold lots of vintage things. The smaller ones and Tong were not too interested but Jie spent a long time there with 4 gor po and Papa.

We went to eat brunch at a nice joint and had yummy pizza, pancakes and toast!

Papa went around hunting for a stall that sold wooden handphone cases but did not find any. Tong was rambling on and on about being able to buy two souvenirs (Papa allowed everyone to buy one each and he promised Tong a present and experience for his good PSLE results so Tong said he would buy a souvenir. The zany Mei bought a talking koala). Bei Gor Po had given him 50aud to spend in Australia to reward him for his good PSLE results too. The sly one convinced Papa to encash the 50aud if he could not find anything he fancied in Australia so that he could buy other things in Singapore.

So he was plotting on how he could maximise the presents, that he would use his AUD if he came across an affordable item (he bought a shark tooth for 20aud) and get Papa to buy it as his present if it was a really expensive item. That cunning money-minded capybara.

It was still pouring when we left the market. We headed to Harbour Town Premium Outlet! Papa dropped us off and went off to park the van by himself. He actually parked it on the grass patch! Superb driving indeed. We were wandering around the vast mall by ourselves and were delighted and surprised to see Papa walking towards us. How did he find us without us telling him of our whereabouts? He said he had his radar on us and could locate us within an area of 3 kilometres.

We did not take a group photo there..but the greatest winner was Jie, who bought a really bright bag and two Superdry tees and two pairs of slippers...Ya the girls went along to shop while the boys sat on a bench to play games for the entire 2 hours. Ha. The shopaholic Mei tagged along, of course, and bought two pairs of slippers too.

Drove past this cafe and thought of Eden!

Loved this photo taken by Bei Gor Po. We were trying to form a line so that we could take a photo of our shadows. Tong and Jun were not with us initially, then Jun joined, then we tried to get Tong to join but he did not want to hold hands with Jie, so Jun offered to switch places so Tong came to hold my hand. At 12 years old, he still said he loved me so very often and demanded that I say it back to him...and let me hug him often..and often extended his hand to my lips for me to kiss it...my cuddly capybara...Well...when we finally formed a line, we came to a narrower path which did not allow us to walk in a row comfortably together and we were in the shade so we could not even have a picture of our shadows...How nice it was to get this from Bei Gor Po when she sent the photo to me at the end of the day!

Papa's app said that the weather would clear up after 3pm and it was really accurate. We left at 430 and went home to change and walked to Broadbeach. Had some fun at the nearby playground first

Such a variety of things to do!

Jie said the tree was so pretty so she wanted a picture. ah...felt like we were back in England...

One of the few couple shots we had...

蓝蓝的天 白白的云 蓝天白云 好风光

Look at the amazing expanse of beach and sky...somehow it was rather foggy that day and it felt like we were at Genting Highlands!

The water was really chilly...the wind was strong too...yet the kids played there for 2 hours

The seniors had snacks while enjoying the blustery winds

Told Papa that he 拍照越来越好看。He cheekily asked 你是在说我吗?

Translating the joke: I said he was getting better at taking photos and he asked if I was taking about him looking better. Roll eyes. Jie would always laugh at his lame dad jokes.

Sent the 4 photos to Wai Po and they filled up the whatsapp text box so nicely when the photos were stacked together to save space. Ha, Mama told Papa it was nice that we had four kids so each kid occupied one grid.

The tiny one did not complain incessantly about being cold...she did it only nearing the end of the trip...she had fun digging, looking for shells, just splashing around in the water with Gege

I believe this could be the point when I complained to Papa that Xun's drawers were bursting. He proclaimed that SHE WAS A GIRL, LET HER BUY CLOTHES. orrrr. Papa really sayang-ed us, always allowing us to buy clothes and frivolous things while scrimping on himself...

Bei Gor took a photo of us in the background when she took a photo of the seagull who was lurking around to eat any food that had been dropped

The two big ones got themselves entirely wet. How they found it OK and not chilled to the bone puzzled me.

We saw a crab scuttling across the sand...WOAH

Jie dug a hole...coz she wanted to take a "out of the hole" shot.

The effect was rather cute, I must say...

Kudos to Jie for wanting to do this!

Erm Jie and her Mario jump shot

One of them asked me to take a photo of the pink sky while we were leaving

Saw this when Papa and I went to get dinner. Mama called a close friend "darling" all the time so I took a photo and sent it to that clique of friends.

Ah, finally some time alone without four HUGE lightbulbs

Bought delectable Chinese food.. it was not too costly, some aud 105 for the nine of us plus instant soup noodles lovingly cooked by Papa...ah...our tummies were full and our hearts were full.

The kids played Nintendo games together and had a blast...well they complained that Mei was a sore loser and rage quitted sometimes...LOL...but i reminded them that Mei was very young and they should impart some tips to her...well they said they did but Mei was obstinate and did not listen...LOL...then Mama reminded Mei that she would be as good or even better than them when she was at the comparable age, having started practising at such a tender age...well...that impish lass...sometimes did not listen...

Glad you all loved each other so much...We hoped you would treasure the time together as Jie would be going overseas to study, Tong would then go to the army...we might not have many years of travelling together with one of you being engaged in some activity at one point or another...ah...my heart...but yes, we gave you good roots (and also good genes and a good head on your shoulders..) so, we gave you all sturdy wings to fly and see the world.

The world is truly your oyster. GO forth and be shining testimonies of God's goodness. Let everyone see you and know that there must be a Good Good God. In Jesus' name, Amen.
