Went to Studio Ghibil exhibit at MBS as we were fans of their movies...
Kiki's Delivery
Faster, faster!
The movies were always whimsical and intriguing
Mei's favourite Ghibil character: PONYO.
Such a cute scene! We had to peep through tiny round windows to see Totoro sleeping amidst the lush greenery
Jie wanted to buy some merc but Mama said it would be cheaper to buy them from Taobao. The things there were really expensive. $30 for a pair of socks. More than $200 for a plush toy? Gosh!
Spotted a cute-looking boy wearing a cat hat
And the other one who refused to be in the same photo as her gege
Very squishy and cuddly
There was a long queue to sit beside the ghost for a photo so we simply took one from the side
A scene from Spirited Away
LOL
Ah, the ugly goblins and the adorable pouty Meimei
I took this but it turned out that Jie actually wanted...
just a picture with the exclamation marks.
See how the soot sprites could be depicted as having different moods just by altering their eyes?
Lots of nice wall murals
Amusing quotes
Movies that we had not watched before
Cryptic message in Japanese.
Mei had never seen such a small TV before
Charming scenes
Ah.. the pig was enjoying himself basking in the sun
His movies had this fantastical touch..
Ah ha one of the most memorable characters in the movies - the soot sprites, or the dust bunnies
The exhibit was hung upside down and we had to look at the mirror to see its reflection, so it felt as if we were falling
Ah...romantic proclamation from Papa to Mama. He said he knew he wanted to marry me the moment he saw me...
Running away from trouble
Floating land
I can catch you!
One of the characters in Howl's Moving Castle
Sent this photo to Aunt Corrine to show to Jie Sophie
Some interactive stations
Tong was not too interested in the exhibits so he was mostly on his phone...but it was always good to spend time as a family together!
BBQ at Uncle Nel and Aunt Corrine's home
They were told not to play with the sparklers by the guard!
BBQ at Uncle Nelson and Aunt Corrine's home. Good food...great company...
Cute series of bubble photos
Hmmm they were getting quite good at toasting marshmallows..
Was a most enjoyable dinner and Sophie Jie asked if she could meet us for CNY! Ah... lots of people to visit over the CNY!
Ah they were so biased, bought Mei the BIGGEST present.
Had been friends with Aunt Corrine for two decades! WOAH
Mei wanted me to send this photo to Sophie Jie Jie who gifted her this dollhouse! They gathered all the other rabbit plushies to take this photo.
Visited Mama's friend's ice cream shop in Bukit Panjang. Maybe Jie could work there someday to earn some pocket money!
Jie attended a Model United Nations conference. She was chosen to represent USA.
Ah, looked just like a grown-up
JOHOR BAHRU with AUNT MEL AND AUNT KAT
Ah...Papa and Mama looking younger and more gorgeous as we aged?
Wanted to dine at a famous dim sum place but it was too crowded and non-airconditioned. Found this nice cozy cafe instead. Well, Mei did not eat all those white marshmallows as they were coated with a layer of peanut butter. What a pity!
Kids went to the dinosaur water park with their daddies while the mummies went for a massage. HA
Shopping at Popmart! Aunt Kat bought Jie a gift and Tong got something too.
Scrumptious seafood lunch
Go-karting in the mall..the go-kart was the electrical type and not too exciting for the big kids.. oh well! We went prawning last night too but did not take any pictures. Jun was bored to tears as he had no interest in prawning and his phone was dead. Tong caught two prawns, Jie, none sadly. Tong said he would like to go prawning with Aunt Kat's family again.
Got a Labubu iphone charging cable from Aunt Mel! Labubu were the rage then
Legoland with Mei on a Monday. Really empty so we could take multiple rides at those attractions that we liked...AWESOME...the boys said it was way better than Waitland Movie World, Australia.
Decorating lego cupcakes
Making lego hearts...Jun was rather creative!
So it was a super exciting holiday! First to Australia, came back on Thurs and we headed to Malaysia on Friday afternoon. It was rather nice to be able to visit two separate places. Perhaps we could do this in future.
