No idea why zjie took this photo of Papa. Perhaps Papa was boasting that he looked so good in his beanie. Hmmm wonder where the kids got their confidence from…
Jie asked for another photo in the lift and Tong obliged as he said Jie threatened him with switching off the wi-fi…he did not want to risk not being able to play his Pokémon game.
Rainy day and it was a chilly 9 degrees.
Luckily, we brought along the light and nifty umbrellas from Don Quixote!
Peaceful and clean
Loved the autumn hues
It was not easy taking photos for Jie… Papa and I were definitely not IG-crazy people
The cutie pie was game for photo-taking most of the time
Tong said we had better stop ‘glazing’ her (some slang which meant singing over-the-top praises) as she was going to primary 1 next year and needed to grow up
She was often complaining about how tired her legs were and how they were not trained for walking so much lol…well she did walk considerably more than usual during this trip..
Loved her bright bubble jacket which added a cheerful pop of colour to all her photos
She and her boyfriend
Mama liked this orange kingfisher! So adorable and pretty!
Saw Hedwig! We did the Harry Potter quiz in the car and Mei, Jun, Jie and Papa were apparently Gryffindors. Tong badly wanted to be a Slytherin and sneakily changed his answers to eventually get that result. Mama misread one of the questions and was said to be a Slytherin but got…Ern I forgot what when I redid it. Ha
The amazing wingspan of the vulture
The pensive gorillas!
Pondering about the mysteries of life
Jie drew an Among us figure on the cold glass window
Saw this strange sight at the zoo. The lake was filled with withered lotuses and there were numerous birds resting on those withered trees on those small islands. Looked rather creepy and desolate, like a scene out of a dystopian world.
Lunch finally at 2plus pm!
Uncle Aik Boon raved about this place and declared that the meat was better than the one he had at a costly, premium Kobe beef joint . Jie loved yakiniku and Tong was on a mission to have beef every day.
The food was very good indeed. Mei and Jun ate way more than usual. The salty, tender beef slices tasted so heavenly when eaten with the sweet Japanese rice. Satisfying meal.
At the bakery just opposite the yakiniku restaurant. The melon bun was so crispy. It was my favourite food item out of all the meals I had eaten in Japan.
Off to Akihabara a street, the haven for anime lovers.
Jun and Tong bought Pokemon cards.
Shiny cards! Kaysen asked Tong to buy Pokémon cards for him and we got 6 packets at the outlet because the store allowed only 1 pack per passport and all the passport holders must be present at the cashier counter for the purchase to go through! It was 550 yen per pack but was going for more than 1000yen at Akihabara Street! Papa and I were puzzled…I guess it was something like how Rolexes were resold at a higher price?
Went to the arcade and Mei got this cute fox lamp! It had a beautiful orangey glow, perfect as a night lamp.
Jun got a cute glow-in-the-dark glass cat. Unfortunately he lost it that very night. He tried to find it in the morning when we were packing the luggage to go to Okinawa but he could not find it. Sad.
Scamming in progress. Never caught a single thing after spending 2000 yen. We missed Taiwan’s claw machines which always have guaranteed wins after a certain amount was spent.
Jie bought some stickers. Sadly, she could not find other Haikyu things to buy home.
Jun saw this on YouTube and sent it to the family chat. Papa decided to take us there as he wanted to make Jun happy!
It was a whimsical and droll cafe.
The strawberry cake and cheese cake were amazing.
Truly enjoyed the visit to the cafe! We were starting to doubt ChatGPT.. first, when we were in JB, we wanted to look for ‘the floor is lava’ and go-karting activities and they were both available at KSL which was near to our Airbnb but it did not turn up in the search at all. Then Papa thought there was carbonara pasta at this café but it turned out that ChatGPT was talking about the menu of the 2D café in Singapore.
We ordered ramen through food delivery and the food was really disappointing. Jun had a queasy stomachache and felt like vomiting dinner and Tong vomited 2 times and his tummy hurt too after dinner, Mama was thankful that Jun probably felt giddy as he was using his phone in the taxi and a tong probably ate something that didn’t agree with him.
We were thankful for God’s protection and favour. Last day in cold Tokyo and off to balmy Okinawa tomorrow!
