On a balmy evening...back to papa and mama's beloved junior college
I always felt that the years in Hwa Chong were my best years of education. Well...I got to know two of the most important people in my life over there - my best friend, your godma...and papa - the love of my life...so...how sweet, how nostalgic to bring our little offspring to see the very place where love was seeded...
sauntering back to the school...massive construction now with the MRT station so we could not park at Hwa Chong. Parked at Chinese High, thank goodness we were early so we got a lot!
Ah, the place where we took photos with some Hwa chong staff when we went back to take wedding photos...
we used to study at this place...it was bare like a void deck then but they had added classes and display cabinets...
oh the classic age-old display of lanterns in the air...some things never changed
bought food and tucking in...
人山人海
Odac set up some tents too...never did this in my era...
Checking out the water fountain
oh dusk had settled...starting to see the luminous glow of lanterns
ooo finally got to see the light up
They even had a shower of butterfly confetti when the lantern lit up and there was a huge sign at the water fountain which was ablaze for a while
Tong was checking if his lantern was working as it was very noisy
Bought a helium balloon with a LED light in it...what a clever idea. They tied it to a wrist band, but the string was somewhat loose and we were talking photos at the fountain, the next moment, the balloon was gone, we did not even see it fly up!
Poor tong, he sobbed pitifully. mama said it would go up to Jesus and He would be so pleased with the gift. papa bought another one for tong tong again.
the backdrop...
admiring the lanterns in the sky
While jie jie went agaga over the glittery butterfly cut-outs. She picked quite a few and we pasted them onto a black paper and displayed it on the wall...
Went up to see mama's classroom...
the legendary LT5 where mama spent many a hours listening to lectures I barely understood coz the accent of the lecturers was so hard to comprehend...so...mostly sleeping...
Then along the corridor to my classroom A303...I heard that the humanities scholars no longer had their designated classroom and lecture hall...I supposed....too elitist to be segregated from the rest..ha
Used to play bridge and carrom at the balcony outside our classroom...now they built classrooms on the balcony...these classrooms had doors on both sides, i recalled how my friend once sneaked out through the other door while the teacher stepped in through this door..hahaha...
My favourite song...the classical hwa chong song..about how we loved this yellow city...it still brought back lots of awesome memories as I hummed the tune, while not really recalling the exact lyrics..the times when papa and I were young and dewy-eyed...when the future held so much promises...when one thought one would be able to change the world...do something monumental...
well...haha...i supposed we did...comfortable in life...had two glorious children...impacting the society? hmmm...let us see where God led us...
