It was time to change hotel again! It was quite a short ride to Kaoshiung and the kids took the opportunity to have a little siesta. We had wanted to stay at another minsu but it did not have rooms for the weekend so Papa chose this hotel.
It was very exquisitely done up. When we first entered the hotel, there was no one at the counter.
We were chatting for quite a while before a very ordinary ajumma auntie who was dressed very simply and in quite an old-fashioned way came out to greet us.
It turned out that she was actually the owner of the hotel! We were joking with the kids that it was a good thing we were so polite to everyone we met. Some people might have treated the ajumma with disdain, thinking that she was a cleaner.
She explained to us how this hotel was a labour of love. The marble walls were imported from a European country.
All the touches were exquisite.
She even showed us the cafeteria on the second level. The kids could get free cookies and bananas, yay, and Papa could get free coffee.
Lots of photo spots
Our jaws dropped when we opened the door to our hotel room
It was a duplex so the big kids slept upstairs while Mei slept with Papa Mama
Before coming to Kaoshiung, Papa warned the kids that the lodging might not be as good as the hotels' we had stayed in...but it turned out to be so splendid
I particularly liked all the wall drawings
the high ceiling
the tasteful designs
the quirky furniture
There was even a tiny cosy room with a sofa
We were stoked with the hotel.
Went to meet Lan Shushu's extended family for dinner
It was at a very upperclass restaurant. Lan shushu had given them a budget to work with and there was no menu...so...it would be a surprise when the dishes came. hahaha
He actually booked the entire level 3
The table was humongous.
Lan invited his close friend's and his brother's families..
the dishes were marvellous
especially the prawns
Papa told the hotel boss that we went to this place for dinner the next morning and she said it would be SS100 and upwards for one guest...her eyes widened when she saw the picture of the 20-people table and exclaimed that Lan shushu was very generous indeed. ha
He could not attend Xiaoyi's wedding as it was a weekday but he bought two really ethereal bangles. They were made of 9999 gold, truly the purest form of gold one could get. Waipo got them assessed at the goldsmith in Plaza and they would cost some S$3300 in Singapore! GOSH. The Lan Family was simply too lavish with all the grand meals at expensive joints and this set of gold bangles.
So I told Xiaoyi that she must wear them and take a photo to post on FB so that we could declare our gratitude.
And I cheekily said she got the gift because of our strong friendship with Lan, so she should give one bangle to Xun, to which she agreed heartily! HA.
After dinner, he brought us to extensive arcade which was just filled with claw machines. The machines were really easy to use and they were filling up a huge trolley with their catch. Jie found the grape juice machine particularly easy and got some 23 bottles of juice. FAINT.
Jun caught two turtles and two French fries. He said he needed two so Tong and he could have one each and they could FIGHT. We returned the food products and got points to redeem toys. Tong was so in love with this rainbow shark.
Mei chose this silly=looking mammoth octopus
Jie got a Rilakuma pillow...
So yes...all in all, who was enjoying themselves the most? The kids lor!
