So Daddy took leave to bring us to Chinatown! Mama used to go to the Chinatown market on the eve with her sisters to grab all the last minute bargains...ermm...considering how crowded it would be, it was definitely not feasible to bring the two of you...well...who knew...maybe when you were older, we could go down with er yi, san yi and xiaoyi again?
Since it was a blistering hot day, we chilled with some icecream, my favourite flavour - atap chee
jie just woke up from her nap and was grouchy...
Golden tooth relic temple. I liked the decorations outside the temple...
This year's decorations were really winsome...delicate multi-coloured lanterns swaying gently in the breeze...NAISE...
I always liked to browse at the soft toys and handicraft...
Ooo a dying trade...dried salted products...
Never saw a stall selling such lanterns before, they were soo charming...
Tong liked the handicraft from this stall, think he spotted an...elephant? hen? bird?
We used to have lots of bazaar stalls selling cheap pirated DVDs, but the police came down very harshly on these hawkers and we never saw such a stall again. This stall was selling legitimate stuff...the two of you asked to buy the "tom and jerry" dvds...hahah...nope, you already got a few pieces at wai po's house. It was funny how this classic carton had captured so many generations' hearts..
Went into a shop to buy ornaments for our doors. We bought some really klutzy ones, one of cabbage, one of crackers, one of peanuts and one of a big pineapple! ha...they were really vibrant, I truly liked them. Tong was captivated by the fa cai maos and pretended to wave his arm too. Ya, he had taken to pretending to be a little kitten at home from time to time...
Back to the temple...waiting for daddy to pick us up. Enjoying the cooling breeze...admiring the ornaments rustling...
On the route back home. Ooo, they suspended coins above the road! Ha...there were flying galloping horses too...one of the big ang moh newspapers made a blunder and called it "the year of the whores"...hahaha...what a flop.
Yup, the year of the Horse, where ah gong, ah ma, wai gong turned a ripe 60 years old...oooo...may they live to a ripe old age.
