(9 June Mon) Off to National Museum - Masak Masak

So, we had nothing to do on a bright and chirpy Monday morning. The adventurous us took a bus to go to the National Museum where they had a special exhibit in conjunction with June hols for little kids. Hurray for free entry for Singapore citizens.

At the lawn where there were gigantic blocks.

The towering majestic museum looming in front of us. Such a historic and grand feel to it.

oooo the Dragon head structure. It was a float and you wanted to go and play. They only opened it on weekends and placed...eh...some sort of movable barricade. I said you could go on for a minute, but seeing that there were dirt and grass on the steps, you two decided not to.

I had such fond memories of playing at the dragon head playground at mama's ah ma's house in Ang Mo Kio. I wondered if it was still there now. All these old school playgrounds had been replaced by sanitised safe rubbery foamy ones...such a pity.

Going up the stairs to explore the upper levels..

Like some sort of a kinetic garden where you were asked to perform certain tasks, like put the ball into the hole, balance the ball on the rotating beam...

This one was funny, you were supposed to move the limbs to help put the finger into the nose!

Tong's fav, to roll the ball up the pipe..eh near impossible...

So off we climbed further up!

Oh a room converted to be like a house with a garden. THis was the garden, you had to put the flowers and fruits into their correct spots...

Watching tv inside the enormous yellow tent.

Trying on ethnic costumes..

Going to the kitchen to whip up dishes...

I wondered if the food would taste good if I followed these recipes...yum yum..all the fav local dishes..

The living room with the upsized sofa..

You wanted to put on a puppet show...

There was an outdoor area...too bad it was so scorching hot...

Back to the air conditioned comfort of the museum...

Went down and there was a quaint peephole area...nicely painted walls with lotsa little holes that held a surprise...

Carvings...it was really awesome...

You saw this and exclaimed it was the Effiel Tower. I had no idea why you knew such things, must be from the Little Einstein or some cartoons. You once mentioned you wished you knew lots of stuff like June the character.

There was one with Big Ben and you recognised it too. Well, mama did not know of such things till I was really old. My world was so limited, I had so little knowledge. You two were different. Mama could impart so many things, we spent so much time together...mama gonna give you roots to anchor you, then give you wings to soar...and that i would always tell you you could achieve anything you put your hearts to..

We went into one of the rooms which housed this exhibit which chronicled the evolution of fashion in Singapore...oooo I loved fashion...in fact vintage dresses were in vogue now. You loved fashion, that was why you loved barbie cartoons...though I seriously questioned the values the shows supported...eh...you would always commented how pretty my clothes were, and I would always reply I would keep them for you, to which you would enthusiastically thank me.

You saw the dome and claimed it was like Elsa's ice palace.

Oh a place dedicated to art and craft.

We met mum's friend, Uncle Nelson and his family. You created a lunch box with Megan jie jie while tong went to play at the chalk area.

As tong was famished, we went to eat at Food for thought, the portions were huge.
After refueling up, we went to explore a bit more. We saw this gigantic grey screen...

Some ball play area

Yup, and we took the bus home again...what a fun day exploring the museum...we should come back...
