Woah ho ho, we dated Aunt Val, JJ, Auntie Karen and Joshua to go to the Cbeebies show at Plaza Singapura together! As usual, taking our favourite mode of public transport, the BUS. Well, the two of you declared that the purple seats meant you were in China and the blue seats meant Japan...hmmm or was it the other way round..and why these countries...shrug.
jie jie wore her desigual reversible sequinned heart tee, tong liked to ruffle the sequins and made them silver but jie liked them red.
Ah, not too crowded as it was a slightly rainy day.
the same host who hosted this last year!
The host said we would have a special guest, Mister Maker. Xun was thrilled initially as she really liked his shows. But when he merely appeared on screen, xun turned to mama with a most incredulous and indignant look, demanding, "I thought it was a LIVE show?!?!" and said it twice. LAUGH, I told papa he should have seen how disbelieving jie jie looked when she found out she had been duped.
Eh, the numtums. We did not really know the characters as we hardly watched cbeebies.
it was fun having a cousin along. Xun was sauntering with her hand in jj's most of the time, neglecting her own little bro. sighz.
oh the teletubbies. I could not believe they were still around, xiaoyi watched them when she was 3!
well, still, watching shows was enjoyable, even if they were rather silly
So we headed to the bus stop to find Auntie Karen to go on to the next show!
The kids snuggling close on the bus
There was a long queue but good thing we managed to get in!
Ya, I thought I saw this guy at some show last year too! Well, I supposed you could say, we were veterans at going for free christmas mall shows. He was a better host, more engaging and energetic.
little josh was getting sleepy..
tong tong too...
not the ever spirited jie jie tho...
see, how beautiful auntie karen was, even after being a mum...
oh the cast, I did not know most of them, except pororo...but the show was well thought-out, with each character taking turns to come on stage to hang an ornament on the christmas tree, with an accompanying dance and song item on the ornament...
xun had been singing "deck the halls with jolly holly" ever since.
Well, it was definitely an enjoyable show.
I wished they had snow, like what happened in the THomas show, but it did not happen : (
fortuitously, some random guy (maybe the security guard) gave aunt val a photo pass! Xun was elated. In fact, when we talked about the day's happening at night, she said taking photos with the characters was her favourite part of the day.
the place was decked in splendor, many gigantic props, like a log house...
which had interesting details for children to explore...
and amusingly an upside down christmas tree...
Humongous toadstools, oh not forgetting to take a photo with her cousin
So, auntie val and auntie karen went home. We headed to Esplanade as mama wanted to catch a bus home. Surprisingly, tong tong who usually napped for 1plus hour, woke up after 45 min.
Feeling rejuvenated, he was soon running around with jie jie...oh and the iridescent display at Esplanade was simply stupendous.
It really was SOOOOO breath-taking.
We always took photos of the hanging decorations when we walked down this path...
Oh interesting sight...like some famous street in some country, which had all the over hanging umbrellas too...
What a balmy day! Shine after rain, perfect for a stroll.
tong really liked the river and wanted to go and see the Merlion! papa was so sweet and had such telepathy with tong. He went a map with a walking route so we could meet him at his hillstreet office, and he highlighted how we could go to the Merlion. Ha, he must have planted a listening worm in tong's tummy.
the atas jie jie wanted to take a breather at the cafe, and yeh, ordered her fav chocolate cake...aiya but you two never could finish all the food...wasted food and money!
looking like a korean pop star in the fashionable oversized sweater...
It was so pleasant spending time walking down the street at a carefree, leisurely pace. Now that mama was planning for a third child and that you two would be starting school next year, I really cherished such jaunty times...so blithe, so unbothered by cares...so free...
and yes, the jie jie was quite a hua1 ci1
Ah ha, finally reaching the merlions. you two found this photo hilarious as we had photographed the backside of the big merlion
You two just wanted to sit here and chill and refused to walk any further to papa's office.
ha, xun the trusty little photographer at work
papa said mama was biased for I only took selfies with tong tong.
papa walked over instead, so we decided to eat at one of those restaurants along Singapore RIver...
and caught sight of colourful sculptures, which of course you insisted you must take photos with...
Then we chose a Chinese restaurant as tong espied the fish tanks inside and wanted to see...I did not know what it was with tong and fish. He also liked to look at the fish display at supermarkets, it was always one of the highlights during grocery shopping.
We tried taking photos, but tong was not cooperative...
versus the ever obliging jie
who sometimes was up to no good. talking about up to no good, jie let slipped that nana called her mei mei by some name, which i surmised was a rude word...after lecturing jie about how to differentiate good and bad secrets, and how we should not use rude words, much coaxing and maneuvering, jie chirped that she had forgotten what nana said...
considering she had an elephant memory...I really did not believe it. I tried asking on another night, she still declared she could not remember it...well we talked somemore and she let slipped that she simply did not want to say it...though nana jie did not tell her that she could not share it with mama though...I wondered...what exactly did nana say...hmmmm
On another night, papa asked the kids to refrain from talking to mama as mama was sick and wanted a doze. xun forgot and gabbled on, then papa reprimanded her, and she still went on nattering. Papa chastised her again and she retorted that she was talking to HERSELF.
i could imagine ...the challenging teenage years ahead...hmmm
oh and we did not know about the light show at MBS...really mountain tortoises...
Rather lovely, if you asked me. You could hear the faint music and they had water and fire display too
After dinner, we sashayed to Clifford Pier. It was Aunt Karen's sale site when she was in SLA and it was a very problematic site. When mama was in URA, I helped minutely in preparing the evaluation materials for the concept proposal...so...it held some memories and I heard it had been transformed into a splendid place...
True enough, it was really upmarket and opulent, definitely for the filthy rich people...
oh well, mama gave thanks to Jesus that we were well provided for, we lived within our means and we suffered no lack...we were thankful and contented...
We went to papa's office. orrr...xun went "orrrr" when she saw the photos and gasped, "so cute!" erm...I wondered where she got her thick-skinned genes from. ha.
tong enjoyed the trip to papa's office as there was a bottle of sweets. on the ride home, he stated he wanted to visit papa's office AGAIN...all because of the candies..ha...
What a thoroughly delightful and gratifying day...a full day of exploration and entertainment...xun had taken to dropping her naps recently. mama was telling xun that she could read and play on her own if she really did not feel tired enough to nap in future. Interestingly, she commented she still needed to nap on tuesdays as t john would make her practise very hard on the piano so she would be tired.
so...mayb you would still be keeping your naps when school started? It sure was hard work to be at school. ha...and tong too, he could go on for the entire day without naps and showing fussiness at the end of the day. hmmm..
We were gonna visit the dentist tomorrow, and yes, the library as well, which we always did on Mondays. I would really miss you when you are in school. I so love being with you.
