2 Feb at Jurong East
The kids had such a great time playing on their bunk bed...they showed no sign of sleepiness at all...so we went to the Jurong East Library, always loved that library as it had a huge variety of books (especially those interesting ones that could make sounds)...
After dinner, we went to Cotton On Kids at JEM to buy jie jie a pair of shoes for CNY. She was deliberating between an electric blue or an orangey sparkly one. I thought she would go for those silvery or even golden sparkly ones. She mentioned that they were too glittery. Was I hearing her right? The glitter doll had had enough of shimmer? Hmmm...
Then she went to tong tong for his opinions, and yeh, of course he picked the blue one, coz they reminded him of Thomas.
We were playing at the JEM sky park when mama noticed a lift at one nondescript corner leading to the 6th floor. I did not know there was a 6th floor. hmmm
oh my, it was another world up there. Many installations for kids to learn about science, like this light generating turbine or something...
and a cage chime which would sound when you rotate that ring below
then pipes which were also xylophone tubes..
this was no ordinary plant, it was humongous...
oooo metal drums
this was hilarious, the sign talked about how the movie "lord of the ring" used this technique to film the hobbits, some perspective method I supposed
oh and the walls lit up at night, powered by solar energy apparently
these colourful sound pipes were delightful
the kids had such a wonderful time that they quickly ran down to bring their papa up instead...ha
3 rd Feb at Chinatown
So papa asked Aunt Angelynn to go to Chinatown to eat frog porridge with us. After dinner, we took a jaunty walk down the crowded bustling streets. It was a Tuesday but was already packed like sardines.
oh gold coins floating in the sky...
HUAT AH. we had this pineapple decoration at home, gigglesss...xun hung it at our master bedroom's toilet...oooo...lots of SHIT coming this year? hmmm....could mean good things, as manure was a good fertiliser!
We would walk past these shops every time we came to Chinatown and you would always stop to admire the Fortune cats. hahaha
xun and tong bought some new decorations again! Xun bought a butterfly series one while Tong bought a gigantic fish. Amazingly, they cost $2 each, the yi yi must have liked them very much to charge them such low prices and even gave us 7 packets of the Goat ang baos!!!
the lights display at Chinatown...it was the year of the Goat, not the sheep, though some people seemed to have mixed them up
etter to carry little tong as he kept getting knocked by people who did not notice the tiny fellow
oh interesting sight. it certainly looked like a UFO!
it could even fly way up into the sky and hover there. If mama did not know better, I would have thought it was a UFO or some sort of surreptitious spying object...totally scary
Such festive vibes...
Out favourite stall was the jellies stall, who would usually give out many free jellies without us having to ask for them. Their enthusiasm was lackluster this year tho, they were rather sullen...and we had to request before they actually gave us samples...haha..
papa wanted to buy a rice bucket with his car no...we scoured through many bins...eh...found one "8888" which we bought for ah gong. ha
then finally, it was home sweet home. alas, it was already 10...and the kids had school tm! How I wished we were back to those days when we needed not care about what time we woke up. hahaha
we should make this a Tay Family tradition and come every year to imbibe the joyous mood!
