(Jan 15) Of school and playtime

So we had completed the first month of school...there were episodes of whininess from tong tong, he would get very moody at times, and even came up with an excuse not to go to school one day by claiming that he was ill...hmmm

I felt the effect of not seeing them for long extended periods of time too, I felt that I knew them less, got more irritable...it was somewhat...straining...I thought you two missed mama too, and those carefree days when you would just wake up and ask, "so where are we going today?"... perhaps that explained the bouts of acting up.

So we tried to do fun things when we woke up earlier from our naps...

the cute little ones enjoying a "snacky" by the pool side...

That day, xun xun came back and exclaimed that she was planning a trip with her close friends, Isabelle, Ming ing, Minxuan and Chloe. THey would go when they we old enough, at 10 years old. They wanted to take a taxi but she was wondering how 5 of them could fit in one. papa remarked that she could take a maxi cab...her eyes lit up with glee when she got the solution, ha

One day, we were in the library and tong spotted a book full of flaps. He was ecstatic and said he needed to give it to jie jie as she loved books with flaps. Mama was very touched by the way you looked out for each other.

Jie jie had assignment every Friday. One week, it was fruits that your family loved. One week, it was indian food and we went for pratas. Another, it was malay food and we bought kueh lapis, a costly $1.90 for one thin silver at Bengawan solo.

jie jie's vocab was astonishing. One night, while we were relaxing at the starbucks café, relishing the chocolate molten cake and cookie to celebrate your birthdays, I reminded jie that she had not practised her piano. She replied, "If I don't practise my piano, I will be in a pickle!" haha...she picked this up from a library book of idions, but I must take my hats off to her for applying it so aptly.

When she saw the lantern decorations at HillV2, mama exclaimed that they were breathtaking and jie also learnt to use the word. When she saw papa, she told him how breathtaking the lanterns were.

There was one night when we were at the fire engine playground. There was a pair of brothers and xun overheard the older one calling the younger one Isaac. When the 4 kids were in proximity, she giggled and told the other boys that her brother was also Isaac, something like, "Hi, Isaac, he is also Isaac (giggles giggles)."

Taken on Tong's birthday coz papa wanted a good shot to post on his fb. Tong always had that steely and manly look.

ONe night, we went over to wai po's house to pick the two of you and we found out that tong had forgotten to take yaya. Fortunately, mama brought tong up to look for yaya as he had slyly hidden him in the back of his toy car. Who would have guessed that yaya was in the boot! ha

mama felt remorseful for I had given you two an earful this morning. We had been having these daily struggle for two weeks. The two of you would wake up almost close to 11 pm and we would have to rush to school. Tong would be peevish and petulant and xun would be reluctant to practise on her piano...I lectured the two of you on how you needed to be responsible for getting ready for school. That if tong chose to be sad and grumpy and wasted his time fretting, then he had no time for play before school. Then jie had to practise her Ballet AND piano, if she took her own sweet time, she had to forgo her TV time at night...sigh

mama was already feeling the effect of the more hurried and harassed lifestyle ever since we started school. You would want to play when we reached home, then it rolled over to a late nap (you two still could not make through the day without a nap), then it would be knocking out late, like 1am for jie jie...it was a vicious cycle...

mama felt guilty, I should manage your time better, I should guard the nights, meant no more forays to faraway shopping malls for dinners. We would have to be disciplined and start our routine earlier...sigh...praying for better days ahead.

the two lovey dovey ones, snuggling even on the bus. While walking to school, Tong muttered how he would miss his precious darling jie jie when he was having classes...there was one day when we were late and mama fetched you down. Mrs Poh brought tong to the N1 class and xun started sobbing as she said tong needed to go via her side to the N2 class. Mama did not understand then, you explained to me later at night, that you wanted tong to go with you. IN the end, he had to walk through the toilets to go to the N2 class.

ooo tong got new shoes from Rick, he was gonna wear them for CNY.

even the usually ebullient jie jie had bouts of whininess nowadays. She wept one day, claiming that mama never cuddled her enough...at school, you would ask for 6 kisses, 7 kisses, a second hug, a third hug before you would go into the lift to go for lessons...I wished you would always let me kiss and hug you before you go off for school or work in future....ha

...sigh...I wished for the school hols to come soon..hmmm but maybe then I would hope that school would start soon so the two of you would not be in my hair all day long? ha...well, we should start meeting up with our friends, like kayra and yaya...we could always go and find JJ to have fun. ha

Love you so much, my precious darlings.
