So, we did not have school on the fifth day of Chinese New Year. We got our cousin, JJ, to spend the day with us since he went to Arise too and was free! How great it was to be able to go out together on a weekday.
After picking up jie jie's passport from ICA, ah gong brought us to Suntec. How wonderful it was to have ah Gong who was ever sacrificial and doting, not willing to let his precious ones suffer any inconvenience by taking public transport...
JJ woke up late, so we whiled away the time by walking around the mall, then going to Toy r us. Tong's nemo fish from River Safari was getting dirty. He had totally gotten over the MIT ducks (alas, we got 5 from USA painstakingly, getting Denise's friend to mail them over, and the exorbitant cost of toys and postage...)so mama decided to buy a new authentic pixar Nemo fish. It was on a shelf full of other soft toys, did not know its exact cost, thought it could not be pricey for its puny size...I WAS SORELY wrong, that tiny fish cost $26.90!!!
Well, jie jie was a bit disgruntled that tong got a new toy...I explained that I bought many bears for her too, then she decided to use her pocket money to buy a swimming mermaid...ha, she had to empty her entire wallet of 19 one-dollar coins in the night...then she said half gleefully and ruefully that she only had three silver coins left. kooky girl.
oh mama bought these water spray guns from Cash converters once, lik 3 for $5, did not know they cost almost $10 each!
Sauntering down each aisle, could not resist the temptation to fiddle with every one which could make sounds...
It used to be easier to persuade the two of you to put off buying toys each time we entered toy r us. You were more willing to wait till end of the year so that you could save up a bigger sum of money...
well, tong was already blustering about how he NEEDED a talking edward nowadays and demanded to go to TOY R US after his nap on a weekday...rolled eyes.
Yay, JJ arrived and we had a peaceful time eating lunch at Food Republic, gazing at the soothing fountain waters trickle down
ON TO POLLIWOGS
Hurray, the adults just chilled while the kids ran amok. The entire maze was connected now, so they could run from the rear maze to the front, cool.
Oh our little cutie pie, as tong called him.
The children declared that the blue blocks were actually IPADS. hmmm
They tried sliding down together, ha.
mama and aunt val went to shop and uncle ZH sent an SOS stating that tong wanted mama. Ha, then he asked xun what would calm tong down. Xun replied sagaciously, "give him anything he wants," Hmmm...how to make mama appear in the blinking of an eye? Then, she hopped back to say, "maybe thomas could help." Brilliant jie jie. So uncle ZH let tong watch videos, he whimpered and whined whenever he recalled missing mama, then he fell ASLEEP! Amazing.
After playing there for 4 hours, it was time for dinner! Popped over to Marina Sq's Sakae Sushi
Along the way, the kids asked to take photos with whatever caught their fancy
We got the little munchkins to take photos of the adults, the first one taken by Xun and the second taken by JJ. Xun had fallen in love with her ballerina tee and white tutu skirt get-up that she was always choosing to wear that combination nowadays...I thought she put on a little bit of weight, ha, pang du du, heh...she laughed and told me she liked chubby cheeks when I revealed what I thought...
So the kids clamored to sit together
JJ was posing with the mermaid toy while xun acted as the photographer
Brought tong out as he was getting restless and he wanted a photo with Mr Bean. Apparently, you two had been watching this cartoon at wai po's house.
Got tong to the fun ride and mama even managed to sneak in some time to shop at Mphosis which was having a mega sale.
Off to River Ang Bao on the floating Platform
The rides were so costly. Bought a card of $50 value, each ride cost like $5 at least!!! Strangely, the staff at the teacup ride only charged us $3 each for the kids though it should have been $5.
Such splendid lighting
papa and Uncle ZH went to the Singapore Pools to buy toto...erm...did not strike la
Next, it was jie's turn to choose. She wanted the carousell. Ha, tong merely wanted the ordinary looking bench...with the funny sign "largest person sits here".
The carousel was not that attractive, the weird sea horses were plain and drab
Ooo, a Thomas bouncy castle...no one was manning it tho, so we did not play there
Tong chose to ride in the jeeps...rather exciting as it would go up a slope
had $9 left, too little to have one more ride, so we went to play at a stall
Archery, nope, did not win anything at all, though others seemed to be winning easily at some other stalls. Saw a couple with 5 or 6 huge toys.
papa topped up the card so we could have enough for a last ride. Eh, we thought they would choose some more exhilarating rides like the spinning swings or hot air balloons...but tong chose this...JJ seconded it, jie was hesitant and wanted to do something else alone but decided otherwise and joined them...
the train was rickety and slow...it was most mind-numbing
we joked that tong the train driver was so bored that he was looking out of the window to admire the grass
Went to the platform and were dazzled by the beautiful displays
This was simply jaw-dropping
even had some boats on a make believe lake
Checked out the fortune of the animals
not too sure if tong was truly a dragon or rabbit or drabit, or fire breathing rabbit
xun commented this looked more like a goat than calf
this was interesting, the rod could actually move
the peacock display certainly looked majestic and and radiant
there was even some performance of xin yao going on
you could make wishes at this wishing pond. Tossed the coins to hit the bell...eh...did not manage to
the bosom buddies. JJ gushed to his daddy that xun was his favourite cousin forever. And when tong and Jayron grew up, they would also be his favourite cousins too. Ha...the other time when the triplets came to our house, Gayle bathed in our room while the boys bathed in the common toilet. Eden was upset and wept...he wanted to bathe with the girls too...alamak. ha. told him he could not, coz he was a boy but he was pacified when we agreed he could bathe with tong tong...haha
Snacking time! Xun asked for candy floss, she certainly had a sweet tooth. Papa really found it for them and got two tubs for them to share.
Aunt Val noted that JJ never really liked candy floss but was relishing it now...ah the power of peer pressure
strangely, while we were finding seats in the gallery, the other segments had wet chairs but this segment's chairs were dry. I supposed it was coz they were closest to the Bay and the wind had dried up this segment more quickly...
tong said he had a candy floss lollipop!
we-fie
tong called Jayron his cutie pie..tong rather liked to sayang Jayron..orrr
and Jayron enjoyed touching him too...
Well, it was a most enjoyable night. COuld not wait for March Hols to come and we would be painting the town red again with JJ and Jayron!
