(30 Jul Tues) Science Centre

Well, I asked Xun if she would like to go to an indoor playground or a water play area and guess what? She gave that cheeky look and exclaimed, "water play!" So here we went, to the Science Centre.

The iconic look of the Science Centre, maybe they were antennas to reach the aliens on other planets?

I had fond memories of Science Centre, it was always a treat to go on an excursion with friends to that place!

We immediately headed to Water Works. There were actually many areas to explore, alas, Xun, you were apprehensive of the place as it was mostly dark and had strange sounds...so you were wailing to get out, what a bummer...Oh but your eyes lit up when we reached the Water Works.

Scorching hot weather yet you did not mind a bit

I learnt some interesting facts while walking around...like we waste 100l of water by using a hose to wash water...better tell papa to use a pail and cloth instead..ahahah..

"Massive maelstrom"...

Trying to figure out a way to get the balls into the whirlpool...

There was a water maze, one could walk in it and not get wet coz of the spacing between the spouts. ha. We tried to float some balls on top of the gushes of water...

Whimsical water clock...

A quirky gigantic dryer! ha, looked like something from Alice in Wonderland...

Ok, done with water play. Tong was weary and wanted to nap. The poor thing. Eh, mama forgot the carrier and he could not settle down very well. Upon entering the air-conditioned area, he perked up and forgot his weariness. Lunch time then!

It was a pleasant and dreamy place called Coffee Hive. It had beautiful drawings of the bucolic landscape...

The sleepy Tong started to get whiny...

A delightful corner for the kids to occupy themselves...a lush pasture..reminding me of Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want...He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me besides the still waters..

It had natural light filtering into the place, overall a really good ambience .. too bad it was not open to the public...erm...the food selection was extremely limited too...ahhaha.

Xun, you made friends again. You always lamented you missed your friends after bidding farewell. I saw that earnest desire in you to have companionship...hmmm I wondered why you were so afraid of attending school...

Tong's shirt gushed," mommy loves me"

Guess what his shorts said?

Orrrrrr, "I love mama"....
OK, you examined the map and asked to go to Ecogarden as there was a drawing of a treehouse on it. You enthused how breath-taking the landscape was when we set foot into it...yeh greenery everywhere...

bridges, ponds, shady trees, reeds, rolling lawns...

OH an exhibit...I thought this was the treehouse but you retorted this was not a house in a tree...hmmm

You enjoyed hearing stories....

Ah! We found the genuine treehouse. A pity it was cordoned off as there were bee hives there and it was not advisable for people to go up. Hmmm, it looked like it would have been great fun though...oh well...

We gambolled to admire the plants...

Woah, this was the first time I saw and touched a cotton plant! I was soooo excited!

I never knew how they grew and now I could finally see it for myself! It was such a miracle...you could not help but marvel at God's handiwork...
Ok, back to the air-conditioned place. You always claimed you were the snow princess and preferred the cold. Tong too, he always snorted, "hot hot" no matter what the temperature of the water form the shower hose was...

We went to see the live animals exhibits...it was engaging...we saw hamster, gerbil, gecko, tortoise etc. The most fascinating display was this: hatching of chickens from eggs. There was one that had a tiny crack and you bemoaned that we could not stay till we saw it hatch...

Even the toilets had cutesy pictures...

There was a special exhibit called "candyland". Since the other exhibits looked dark and menacing to you, I decided to bring you two there, thinking it should be a joyful and brightly lit place...yup, I was right on the spot.

The history of sweets...

There was this cool exhibit where it imitated the teeth and tongue with different coloured taste buds. When you jumped on one of the colours, the corresponding button on the tooth would light up and a sound would declare what taste bud you had jumped on. It was kinda amusing...

ONe could  pretend to be a restaurant owner and key in orders at this station...

All about chocolates...

and how it was regarded as a aphrodisiac ...

Some other funny looking exhibits...

Yup, smells did evoke memories...hmmm...I loved sniffing the two of you...

There was even a slide...Some jie jies asked to take a photo with you and you stubbornly refused. I found it amusing coz a cousin jie jie also requested to be photographed with you at Rick's birthday party and you refused too. I wondered what it was with people wanting to have your photographs...hmmm....

Oh, our beloved ah gong was here to fetch us. The Kinetic garden outside Science Centre was open to the public and ah gong told you two to go and play at the fountain! By now, the weather had turned mellow and pleasant, it was really the perfect time to have a splash.

You and your funny antics...

TOng was all drenched...

Ah Gong kept urging the two of you to stand in the middle of fountain for him to take a pic, but it fell on deaf ears...

Ah, squinty little eyes..

Ha, frolicking around...

oooooo, Tong fell asleep immediately in the car. All three of us had a sound nap...mama was bushed. It was no mean feat to be always out on an adventure. Heh. Just before you slept, you asked about tomorrow's plans. I replied you had to go to wai po's house. You knew that meant I had to work and you insisted that you did not want me to work. Orrrrr. mama loved you two tiny ones...

Well, I told papa that we played in water everyday actually. We had this luxurious bathroom with a bathtub. The two of you came up with funny games all the time, like squirting water from the fishes...ha...we ended our baths all the time with putting away the toys and watching the water spiral down the drain, forming a whirlpool....You know, when both of you were big and no longer needed mama to bath you, I would be missing this wonderful time...Love you, sweethearts.
