Dressed in nifty clothes, we were off to an escapade with our beloved Auntie A, kay kay, Auntie pong and Caylum. We were off to Grandstand, or known as the former Turf City, where races used to be held. It had undergone a revamp and had become this ATAS place for dandy and foppish young rich people and angmohs...

I loved taking photos of you two against this pavement flanked by greens..it always made the photos look so beautiful...
| First, we had lunch at Treehouse café. the prudent and calculating aunties we were, we bought vouchers from Groupon and could enjoy $40 worth of food for $20. ha. It had two levels and dedicated the upper deck and a large area for children to play. Not too many fanciful toys but we, adults, realised kids actually needed very little to be happy with... |
| Checking out the kitchen set....kaykay was such a brilliant girl. At 1.5 yrs old, she could count 1-20 and recite abc and speal very well...well tong tong was still making weird sounds...hahahaha... |
| The gorgeous auntie a in her third trimester. Kay would have a little sister soon! |
| It was awfully hard to take a photo of the ever mobile kay kay who was in a contrary phase when she said "no no" to many things and people...auntie a said kay kay loved mama (I was auntie b. coz when I was younger, I was very close to Auntie a and I wrote letters to her when she was in Japan. Being the mischievous and glib-tongued one, I signed off as B, coz I remarked I wanted to be close to her, even in the alphabet. Well, if tong tong became a lady's man, we would know whom he got the glibness from...) |
| Kaykay would eat meals on a mat at home and she would put food on the cartoon Bee because she wanted to share her food with me...blush...hahaha...I was so flattered to be so loved...ha and she and auntie a made up songs of kay kay loving auntie b and auntie b loving kk..hahahah... we thought it was so sweet that our kids loved each other and we could form a community to love one another and be one another's keepers... |
Now off to the exhilarating land of KIDDY FUN...
We were greeted by upbeat and cheerful yellow and pink floor..everything looked spanking new and clean...it as a great visual feast.... the two you sprinted to the playground without losing a second...
| a cutesy merry-go-round with sea creatures, it was the first equipment you hopped on... |
| Whereas Tong and kay zoomed in for the balloons enclosure... |
| it had a simple concept - fans blowing few balloons inside an enclosed area...however, the kids thoroughly enjoyed it... |
| the place was really family-friendly, it had cosy snuggly corners where parents could chill, read a book and eat some snacks while watching the children play in the safe sanitised environment... |
| Auntie pong and caylum were denied access as his temperature was quite high. It was really peculiar. |
| You loved this twirly swing and kept asking us to spin you |
| This was easy peasy for the sporty tong |
| attempting some gym materials... |
| You were growing up so fast...wai po related a humorous observation. She told me that you would take your yaya and gestured at the door and wanted to get out of the house at 10pm on my working days...it was as if you had uncannily worked out 10pm was the pick-up time and you were always raving to go home and would be all ready, waiting for papa...I surmised it could be because of the drama serial song which came on at 10 pm? hahaha.... |
| Kay's favourite - the spinning cups! |
The playground was innovative and came up with this strategy to save space. Another play area was stacked on top of the blocks play area so there was more space for exploration! What a clever idea!
| blocks below |
| Up the stairs as fast as greased lightning...Auntie a and pong pong saw how you glided down the stairs as if on a slide and were super amused... |
| bouncy castle on top |
| Another example of the space-saving strategy... |
| Ball pool on top |
| A wobbly bed at the bottom. Jie jie exclaimed she was SURFING. she had such fertile imagination and came up with the funniest ideas and stories sometimes...she was a bundle of joy to be with... |
| Attempting to have a photo of all the babies was no mean feat...never accomplished a proper shot! |
| Tong, daddy tried to teach you the body parts and was slightly worried that you did not seem to get it. I was puzzled, I had taught you before and I though you understood. So I tried to get you to show him. You absolutely refused to...hmmmm so I asked him to pretend to walk away, he watched you from a safe distance and you were dutifully pointing out your eyes, head, nose, mouth, ears and tummy to me...he came back and asked you to repeat and you pretended you did not know anything again! We concluded...You were a CHEEKY baby : ) |
| Jie had a jelly good time on this... |
| There was a revolving structure where one could climb up three levels.. |
| You declared it as your secret tower |
| As jie was the princess trapped in the tall tower, tong was the valiant prince who came along to save her... |
| snack time! Your favourite salty biscuits... |
| the ravenous children... |
| Back to play again...was this a submarine or a blimp? |
| Either way, it was great fun as it moved up and down like a joy ride... |
What an adorable see-saw...
We spend almost two hours there and went way beyond our usual nap times. By the time tong reached Ah Gong's car, he was in lala land. We all went home and huddled together and took a much needed nap....oooo another fun day.
I told Auntie A this was enough meaningful engagement for the day and I was just gonna nuah till bedtime. ha.
Was whatsapping on the hp with auntie jingli and she affirmed me, saying she and uncle hao thought I was a COOL mum. I replied, "if you consider letting them stay up late, eating junk, watching tv, going out to play all the time and not going great...yeh I am a great MOM!". ha...I was resisting the pressure to send you to school and expensive enrichment, which purported could enhance your intelligence and performance and whatever nonsense. I did not want to kowtow to this relentless pursuit for academic excellence only, I firmly believed that if you two had the right attitude, moral resilience and character fortitude, you would do well in whatever you wished to in future...most importantly, you have got Jesus in your lives, He is your wisdom, provider, teacher, healer, He blesses you, keeps you and loves you...I certainly hoped I had been a good testament and helped you practise the presence of Jesus in your everyday lives, that you KNOW you can always run to Him, because you are the apples of His eyes.
Amen. |
