(25 Dec 13 Wed) Gardens by the Bay

OOo an absolutely balmy day indeed. Christmas Day. We were off to Gardens by the Bay to immerse ourselves in greenery.

We went up the OCBC skyway...well we had to pay but papa would bear to pay anything so long it was reasonable and a request from his precious xun xun...
On the OCBC skyway...really breezy...how nice. wind in the hair...

papa gushed about how dashing tong looked in this shirt and shorts gear

Extremely hard to get him to pose for a group photo. Wai po said tong's face had changed. mama thought tong looked more manly now, he used to have such an effeminate face. I like this more gungho and boyish boy...and his slightly chubbier cheeks....ooo which papa said would wobble when he ran...hahaha

We shipped this pram all the way from USA. Well, we did not know if it was cheaper for Amazon to ship directly or for Vpost to do it. Papa chose the latter and it was an expensive lesson. vpost turned out to be $2-300 more than amazon! So this pram cost us $600+ when we could have gotten it from Baby's first Year at Paragon for $300. sigh...it was lamentable that it was out of stock for very long so we decided to buy from US instead...and mama was pondering if it had been a waste of money, tong did not take to it very much and insisted on walking instead. papa comforted mama that xun enjoyed the ride and we could put our bags so we were better off. You know your daddy, he was the optimistic and rosy-eyed one.

Ha, finally got the two to use the pram together. xun liked the front seat as she could lie more comfortably. Tong liked to sit or stand at the back.

We went to Flower Dome and the two of you perked up immediately when the coolness engulfed us. I thought you were made for the cold temperate places rather than Singapore.

mama met a Bukit panjang mummy friend there. She was the one who recommended the pram to us as her brother in law was using it and we noticed that family using that same pram at the carpark! Talk about coincidences... She mentioned she saw you fluttering around like a fairy..hahah

Posing for the photo...TWIST...CHEESE...cheers, we got ears...

Oooo...smelling the flowers...they smelt heavenly..

You were like a lithe butterfly, fluttering from flower to flower...hah...

The theme was Christmas so the designer brought in plants related to the season...like strawberries...

wild cabbages...the fun facts boards were intriguing...like cabbages are made up of 90% water so i told papa we should eat more cabbages if we wanted to slim down..

They put up all the red flowers and plants and reindeers...

Dazzling, was it not?

You said these were thrones...

The dao look...

Something about the cages fascinated you...

We saw this charming mini pineapple...eh...the thing was there should be a big one in the ground...how did the small tiny one grow on top then?

ooo giant dragonflies...

tomatoes...oooo yummy... and pumpkins too...it was written that people used to carve out the flesh and put in milk, honey and sugar to make pumpkin pies...pumpkin only provided the base and pumpkin was not used for the filling at all...ha...

ooo capsicums...it said that the red ones contained two teaspoons of natural sugar so were often used by chefs...green ones were more bitter...ah...mama should use red ones for cooking in future...

And this was the highlight...the story was about a pineapple and a strawberry who met on a magical mountain and fell in love and produced many exotic fruits...this was their mossy truck...(well...pineapples and strawberries required different types of soil and climates to grow in, so they were technically ill-fated star-crossed lovers)...but it had a happy ending...they lived happily ever after..in the artificially created green house at Gardens by the Bay...

See the lovers...

This bonsai exhibit reminded me of how auntie a and mama were holidaying in Japan and we stumbled upon a bonsai exhibition and had a whale of a time there...

alright, giddy-up, going over to Cloud Forest...

oooo the cascading waterfall...it was really cool in this place...

mama met her friend here and her friend told me that her son took a photo of me (below)! hahaha...

There was a train set and they used plants to make the landscape...really pretty...of course, tong did not want to leave but we told him there were more trains elsewhere...which was untrue...opps...

Went up to the Lost World...balmy balmy day...

The two of you bounded up and down the ramp...where did you get your boundless energy from?

At the crystal kingdom. You were astounded by your images in the mirrors hanging from the ceiling...haha.

We stayed for a total of 3 hours at the Gardens. Xun still wanted to explore more but mama and daddy were bushed.

Nap...ooo what a good nap we had. Then off to Plaza for dinner. We brought the pram and tong had taken to riding on it, he especially like to stand at the back while xun still preferred the front. Yeh, I would say, this was a good investment! mama felt so drained now. A couple of posts took me nearly 3 hours to complete...well...december was certainly a fun-filled time, with papa on leave often and joining us on our quests to explore the little red dot. ern...he griped that slappy cakes looked like a fine place...he asked why we did not ask him to come along...haha...

mama really must go to sleep now. Tomorrow would be a nondescript day, us going to the library, staying at home to watch tv, nuah and play in
